Insignia Might've Just Restored My Faith In Them
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So I've been received my Insignia 380 SqFt. HEPA Air Purifier a week ago and have been putting it through its paces. And I must say, it has impressed me more than I thought it would. Because of issues I've had in the past with the Insignia brand, I had pretty much sworn that brand off. But this air purifier might just be the product to change my mind. Along with the air purifier inside the box comes the user manuals both in English and Spanish. Starting with the design, you'll notice how well put together this air purifier is. Very strong build quality and a modern look that will easily compliment and fit in with any interior design décor. On top of the machine are the controls that allow you to set how long you want the air purifier to run and/or if you want to set it to auto. You can have it just run at a low, medium, or high speed, as well setting it to run for 1hr, 2hrs, 4hrs, or 8hrs. There is also a night time mode so it doesn't disturb you while you're sleeping. On the front is a digital display that shows you the number of particles ≤ 2.5 micrometers in diameter. The display also shows you the air quality where green is great, yellow is okay, orange is bad, and red is hazardous. The display also serves as a spot to show you the child lock indicator as well as the indicator to let you know when to change out the filter. And speaking of filter, its located on the back of the air purifier. In my testing, the air purifier performed amazingly and alerted me if an when there was anything in the air. Depending on where you have it located in your house (we had it in our living room, near the kitchen), it easily picked up the different smells from dinner being cooked. That's about the only time it turned red on us. I would recommend this air purifier for anyone looking for one, and its decently priced. We will definitely continue using this in our home.

Not Quiet and Didn't Purify
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Granted, I bought this open box in "excellent" condition. However, it was very noisy and did nothing for the small room that it was in. I returned it and got the next size model. I am hoping the reviews for it are sincere. I spent 4 hours on the phone with Best Buy to sort this out. I wish they would have just sold me what I bought. It is what it is.

Posted .Hi,
Sorry for the inconvenience caused.
For the problem "not quiet and didn't purify", could you please check whether the plastic bag of the filter has been removed or not? If the plastic bag haven't been removed, it will be noisy and can't purify the air.

Hurricane Force
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A home with poor air quality is a bad place to be. Not only can it be discomforting for you and your guests, but consistent exposure is a health concern. Smoke, smog, dust, and other organic airborne pollutants are not things our lungs should inhale. Air purifiers are a great way to help cut down on air pollution in the home, often recommended for those who live in areas that are affected by wildfire seasons or climate change. Insignia’s Medium Room Air Purifier targets the larger rooms of medium-sized homes, claiming appropriate use in rooms up to 380 square feet in size. Insignia’s offering does a great job keeping up in such environments, at the expense of higher noise levels than other offerings. - Setup and Maintenance This Insignia medium room air purifier ships complete and ready to run, but does require disassembly prior to initial power-on to remove protective plastic wrap around the internal HEPA filter. The rear panel is magnetically attached for easy access, and the large cylindrical filter has two fabric loops to grab for removal from its grippy filter cavity. Once reinstalled, you only need to position the device appropriately (the center of the room is the ideal location for an air purifier, if you can make it reach), plug it in, and power on to have it begin working in automatic mode. The control panel contains myriad functions to adjust fan speed, engage child locks, and set timers to run in pre-set intervals. The front of the unit contains a 3-digit display indicating particulate count (lower is better, obviously) and has multicolor indicators for air quality at a glance. The screen is decently bright and can be read easily in a well-lit room, though I would have liked to see a night mode to dim the display and employ slower-speed fan curves on automatic mode. The unit includes a pre-filter which should help reduce clogging and strain on the internal HEPA filter. This can be vacuumed for regular cleaning, and is machine-washable for deeper cleaning. The HEPA filter is rated for 2,000 hours of runtime, which the Insignia air purifier will track and notify for replacement. It should last for about 8 months (assuming the purifier is run 8 hours per day) and the replacement filter NS-APFM2 is available through Best Buy for $39.99 MSRP, so assume about $60 per year for additional maintenance costs atop the cost of electricity to run. - Performance & Noise I used the Insignia purifier for two days in my master bedroom (approximately 150sqft) and for three days in my den (approximately 360sqft), the two most-used rooms in my house where dust and particulates are most prominent and mirroring my testing with another brand’s air purifier from last year. The Insignia purifier helped quite a bit in my master bedroom. As with a previous purifier, I found I slept better and woke up without feeling as dry and parched as I tend to in the early days of winter, as my home’s forced hot air system circulates dust more easily than a baseboard (either electric or forced water) heat system. After a week I did see some dust buildup on the pre-filter. I admit I have a poor habit of vaping in my den, and the Insignia purifier went right to work as soon as it picked up the first cloud. With the fans on automatic, it quickly detected high particulate count and ramped up the speed to make short work of my bad decisions. While very performant, clearing the air in minutes, the purifier’s fan got quite loud at medium and high speeds. That said, the amount of air the purifier is capable of moving is nothing short of incredible, pushing with such force that I could feel the air circulating strongly throughout the entire room as if I had multiple pedestal fans set up. I have no doubts this purifier could clear a smoky room multiple times over in under an hour at max setting. Though high noise levels are understandable given the volume of air it needs to pull through a tight filter, the more noticeable issue I encountered (at least with my unit) is that the fan is not well-balanced. Even at low speeds the purifier shakes side to side when the fan is running, which is amplified at higher speeds. At max setting the purifier shakes enough to feel it through the table and nearby floor I had my unit set up on, leading me to question whether this is the result of a design flaw or manufacturing variance. - Bottom Line There isn’t much to say about an air purifier - it’s a turbine fan designed to force room air through a series of filters, so the only variances are going to be in size, production quality, and ease of use. Insignia’s 380 square foot purifier performs well while being easy and intuitive to use, but the imbalanced fan makes this a less attractive option for environments where high usage and low noise are key, such as overnight in bedrooms for homes in wildfire states. However, it performs well and is priced very competitively within the segment, making these concessions a worthwhile trade if it works for your needs. The Insignia Medium Room Air Purifier comes recommended.

Great for a room without taking up a lot of space
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Insignia™ - 380 Sq. Ft. HEPA Air Purifier works great for a bedroom to to a decent size living room. Probably more than you need for a bedroom, but the tower style unit takes up very little floor space. The unit comes with a HEPA filter that also combines with a carbon filter to help filter odors. The outer pre-filter is washable to also extend the life of the filter. It is stated that the filter should last about 2000 hours which is about 3 month constantly running. That seems pretty typical for a filter replacement. There is an indicator once a new filter is needed. The LED panel shows the air quality to help you determine if you need to change the speeds to help get rid of odors and allergens more quickly. You also have the option to set the speed on Auto to adjust the speed as the room air quality changes. Where this is a nice feature, I am a bit reluctant of using Auto in a bedroom setting. I have used other air filters that all of the sudden turn on to it's highest speed setting, which in the middle of the night can be a bit disruptive to your sleep. There is a sleep mode, that turns this unit to be ultra quiet. To be honest though, the slow speed is very quiet and isn't very noticeable, which is the setting we keep this unit on. The sleep mode would be helpful if you the LED lights are bothersome at night. Where I like the quiet settings, when you go to medium or to fast speed, this unit does kick in to high gear and does get pretty loud. I would say there is a less audible difference between medium to fast than there is from slow to medium. I wish there was more of a middle ground that would be closer to a soft white noise, but medium does get pretty loud. Perhaps more than your standard three speeds would be an improvement. You can definitely feel this thing working. The air flow runs through the front and back of the unit and the filter air blows through the top. At medium and fast speeds, you can feel the air flow. Could be helpful in those hot summers to get some airflow into the room. Other than not having more than the three speeds to help with the noise variability, this unit does a good job. For those who are sensitive to sound at night, there the sleep mode and slow speed shouldn't be a problem. And for those who don't mind a little white noise, well you get that along with good air filtration, which is a must for those with allergies.

Perfect for my living/dining area
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Our overall breathing air is now better! This is probably one of the best air purifiers that I own. It is very quiet, even with the fan on. No app is needed for this purifier. All of the control buttons are on top and there is a child guard button! I also love that when in automatic mode, it checks your air quality and adjusts itself as needed. Highly recommend!

Quiet and Effectively Cleans Air
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I first noticed how quiet this air cleaner is. It is barely audible on low speed. It does have three speeds if you want to clean the air faster, the upper speeds are louder since the fan is moving faster of course. However the sound is smooth just louder. The air filter is very robust for the size of this unit, tip to the engineers for their design which makes the filter almost as large as the unit itself. The filter is rated for up to a 380 square foot room. You have a washable pre-filter that catches things like pet hair. The Hepa main filter has a carbon layer which is excellent for removing odors. This filter proved very effective in making the air in my open landscape main room smell better especially after cooking on an inside grill appliance - great. I did turn the fan speed temporarily up to its highest setting for that situation. Normally I leave it on low and don't hear the fan at all.. There are very good controls which allow timer settings, fan speeds, and a feature to prevent accidental setting changes. I highly recommend this unit as an excellent air purifier for your home.

It has a washable filter!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Live near UCLA so, bought Insignia for the Palisades wildfires, fortunately smoke blew off coast and air quality was not as bad as I thought. Out of the box it was larger than I expected, but it works well and most of all silent unless it detects something. Yesterday, the filter warning light came on, scratched my head and remembered that the filter is washable. Vacuumed filter off with the Dyson and popped it back in. Lastly, pressed buttons to reset the warning light, making me happy.

Great air purifier
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It seems to work well and is very quiet on the low mode. I keep it on low and it will automatically kick up to high if the air quality decreases. I live in an area affected by the recent Canadian wildfires and i was very happy to have this air purifier. On those days we had an air quality alert, this purifier quickly got the air quality to a green level and kept it there. I had no breathing issues despite having asthma.

Good, but a little loud
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I work in an office, people going in and out every day. We have wildfires, smog, and bad air quality. The building has a robust air handling system, but it never feels like the air is moving. It sort of freaks me out. I got this (for the purposes of review, but also my sanity) to bring to work for another layer of protection and more air movement. It works sort of. Starting with the bad, the machine has three speed settings. The first is all but silent, but the two more powerful settings are loud. loud enough that it distracts me when I have to answer questions, talk on the phone, or write performance evaluations. It means that whenever I'm trying to concentrate or talk with someone, I need to turn the machine to its lowest setting or off. Easily done, but it would be even easier not to have to do it. If you're bringing it home to use in your bedroom, I hope you like white noise or you'll need to turn it off when you go to sleep. The good. It clears out odors, moves air, and has a little monitor that lets you know what the particle count is in the room. I LOVE that. It lets me know that the building's filters are working and that the machine is cleaning up what's left. For my sanity, this is awesome. I'd also point out that there's an automatic setting and a nighttime setting. I suspect those will really work well for those who bring it home for better home protection. For the office, I recommend it so long as you're willing to turn it down or off (literally, a button push) when talking to people. For home, a solid performer.
