It runs water through the fabric softener cup even when you don't select fabric softener. Wouldn't be a problem, except it stops and starts the water about 10 times in the process, shutting off the water violently each time. I had to install water hammer arrestors on each water line, but they only last so many cycles, and it uses about 10 cycles each washload due to the faulty programming! The 12 year old washer I replaced worked better than this.
