Unfortunately It wont work with external hard drives. I pluged mine in and was so happy for extra ports till I tried to play a game on the external hard drive and it popped up on screen cannot read please reconnect. I had to take it off and still only use the 2 usb ports on my PS4 So be aware that it will only work for head sets and controlers.

Insignia USB hub for PS4

Owned for 5 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.This claims to be usb 3.0 what they don’t tell you is you can’t split the usb 3.0 from your PS4 to this and have multiple usb 3.0 ports. I was holding out for that, but alas I exhale. My external SSD HD, will not read or connect when plugged into this port. Another issue is the latency and down rift drops I get with my G29 steering wheel. I hope PS5 solves all these addition requirement needs.
