Awesome TV for what I needed

The salesman who helped me was very knowledge, but didn't overwhelm me with too much TV lingo so I was able to keep up. Your staff at the Sparks location were very friendly and helpful from sales, to one gentleman explaining the difference in your CC's because I wanted the rewards but he had heard me ask about how hard the inquiry would be, to the very enthusiastic staff member taking my new TV out to my truck to load it up. They were all 3 willing and ready to help when they saw they could in any way, you don't get that much anymore, your Sparks, NV location more than has it! As for the TV, I really like it! I moved and my living room TV quit working, honestly I'm a little glad it did because I finally cut the cable cord, and all of the apps are right there when I turn it on, it's awesome! That may seem normal to people who buy new often, but I haven't bought a new TV in probably 5 years so even though my Samsung bedroom TV is perfect, it seems obsolete because it's not set up for apps (as far as I know, I think I need a Roku), and I'm still doing an HDMI set up in there, meanwhile my living room was good to go by turning it on and logging into my streaming apps, I'm more than happy with my purchase!

    Insignia™ - 4-Port USB 3.0 Hub Review

Works as advertised except for two nagging features. The USB cable connecting the hub to the computer is very stiff and because of its light weight is insufficient to keep it in place on the desktop in spite of the four rubber disks on its bottom surface. The movement combined with the very loose fit of that cable's connector into the hub causes it to continuously work itself out and break contact every time I move the lap top. A lash up fix is to attach a rubber band to the cable and wrap it around the hub body as shown in the two attached photos which works until the rubber rots and breaks.

    Great transfer rate and connectivity

I was going to replace this 4 port hub (can't remember when i bought it now) with a 7 port hub from other companies, but reverted back to this hub for raw speed. Transferring from a Seagate portable drive to a desktop external drive races at 100 MB/sec, which is the rated read rate for the Seagate USB3 portable drive. This rate is with both drives going through the hub and all 4 ports plugged in. The two 7 port "USB3" hubs I have tested so far transfer at slothful rates from 10 to 20 MB/sec ... way too slow when you have Terabytes to move around and organize. I just transferred about 6 Terabytes between various drives yesterday and today, as i am trying to organize 6 years of movie files and photos, and I had no dropouts or disconnects. Kudos to Insignia for a simple reliable hub which achieves its primary goal: moving data fast.

Picked this up to solve the problem of constantly having to swap out cables and usb drives on my iMac. It's not as pretty as the silver metal model offered by Belkin, but it also costs half as much. Since ultimately the thing is going to be sitting behind my computer, permanently plugged into my two external drives, a printer and a UPS backup, I didn't really care what it looked like as long as it works. That's not to say it's ugly, it's just a black block of plastic about the size of a deck of cards, with a bright blue LED light on the top when it's plugged into a power source. And that sucker is BRIGHT! it could have served as a nightlight, frankly. I ended up sticking some electrical tape over it since my computer is in my guest room and I was worried about keeping my guests up all night with the glare. All in all, solid purchase.

    Does not work properly

When I purchased a new USB 3.0 hard drive with external power it was not detected by my PC at all when connected to this hub. I had to actually REMOVE other devices connected to this hub in order for it to be detected properly. I have not yet been able to get this hub to work with more than one hard drive at the same time. All the ports seem fine. Not even 2.5" drives that don't need external power. The AC Adapter is connected properly too. What is the point of even getting a powered hub if this isn't possible? Yes, i've tried changing the USB 3 port it's attached to on the PC. I wish I had kept my receipt!

    Does not work

I installed the hub. Windows 7 did a perect plug and play install of the unit, and it was up and running. However, when I attached 3 USB 3.0 hard drives, the drives were never recognized by the computer at boot time. All three hard drives work and are recognized when attached to a USB 2.0 hub on the same computer. The issue here is that I wanted the transfer speed. As an IT tech (25 years) all I can say is that this pretty much just does not work. Not worth dabbling with. If what you want to do is attach a mouse and a keyboard and maybe one drive or so, then this might work for you. But then again so would a USB 2.0 hub. There is no benefit whatsoever in using a USB 3.0 hub for your mouse. If on the other hand what you are really after is much better speed for attaching a USB 3.0 Hard Drive, find another option. I could not get one drive to work reliably much less three or four. This is going back.

I needed to upgrade my data storage system so I bought two 5T drives. One for storage, and the other for backup. I plan on backing up the entire storage once a week (Rapidly approaching 1T). I bought this 3.0 hub to make that go faster. Now the complaint. Why does every device come with a power supply that covers up two positions on a power strip? The drives each had one as well as the hub. By the time I was done I needed two power strips just to power three devices. Don't forget the 2nd power strip had to plug into the first one, eliminating yet another position. Anyway, I wound up strapping the two power stips and the USB hub on one of the legs of the table using wire ties. It doesn't look any worse than the other stuff I got going behind my computer system.

I believe this is a decent product. I use it with my keyboard (Logitech G213), webcam (logitech pro C920), preamp/microphone setup (Behringer U-Phoria UMC202HD + Audio-Technica AT-2005), and video capture box (Hauppauge HD PVR 2 Gaming Edition). When I have everything up and running, this box can get a bit unstable, dropping one or more of my devices. I will say that when I’m not fiddling with it, or abusing it, it works like a dream. I just think my workload for it is just too much at times. I would suggest this for someone who needs a few extra USB ports for storage drives and keyboards, but not much else unless they want to deal with it sometimes seizing and dropping a device that draws more than a keyboard and isn’t in the powered slot.

    I bought a trash...

After reading reviews, I decided to try this Insignia USB 3.0 Hub. Five mins after opening box,I know I bought a trash, maybe only worth $5. The Upstream port, which is used to connecting to PC, is so sensitive that even the least moving will cut the connection. Other 4 USB 3.0 ports are the same. How bad the connection can be? I connected my phone to Hub and I'm typing this review now. My phone is repeating charging sound because the connection is cut frequently JUST BECAUSE I AM TYPING ON KEYBOARD! BTW: My Logitech keyboard and game mouse are NOT WORK even when the connection is good. The hub is made all by plastic. I can accept its cheap material, but the poor connection and capability make it a trash and waste of money. Well, hope I just be unfortunate to get a bad sample, but I suggest you to think twice before you bought this cheap small plastic trash.

I love these hubs. I have three attached to my Mac. They transmit speed well and are very stable. I use SoftRAID to create mirror RAIDs and these are great for that. I put one drive on one hub and another on another hub. This takes away a single point of failure. It works great, currently I have 32TB's of RAID storage running on these. On the third hub I have high speed SSD drive for my video of editing. No issues with scrubbing through video with fast drive plugged into these. I also like that they have an external power supply. This give them enough power to run portable SSD drives that need to pull the power from the port. I have PNY, Samsung and Sandisk drive that run over 400 Mb's a second on these hubs. Have not tried them on Windows but I would figure they would be just as solid on that OS as well.

Whoever built my computer must have never heard about USB connected devices. After hooking up keyboard, mouse, headphones, printer, I was out of USB plugs. I got this 4 port USB hub because it was the only one in the store. It worked fine, but I need more. I got a Manhatten 28 plug USB expansion hub. It works fine, too. But now I have as much USB connection as I could want, and at least that is one thing I don't have to worry about. I would recommend this to a friend, but with the warning that it would be much better to have seven times as many USB plugs available.

Fixed issue with device needing more power from PC

Some devices can need more power than the USB controller hub built into the computer can provide...like external hard drives. This device is perfect for those situations when you have issues with your USB device generating errors and will not function normally and Device Manager shows a USB error when it has been already confirmed that the device otherwise is functional (tested as functional on a different PC). Fixed an issue for us with a Magic Jack which would stop working and then be unrecognized by Windows 10. All it needed was a little more power as provided by this Insignia Powered USB 3.0 hub.

Nice Hub, but Doesn't See Some External Drives

This hub is a nice size and fits right into my work area. I really like the always on high current option for charging devices. One odd thing, though. I use external hard drives for backups and thumb drives for various purposes. If I plug them into my system or its dock, no problem. But if I plug them into this hub, some work and some don't. My Western Digital My Passport Ultras (2 of them) don't work when connected to this hub. One SanDisk thumb drive works, one doesn't. A Lexar thumb drive works. Given that all devices work when plugged into my Dell Laptop directly or into its dock, but not all of them work when plugged into this hub, my guess is that something is off with the hub. Maybe I just got a bad one.

Two of my USB ports burned out in my computer tower, and every time i needed to plug in a flash drive, upload pics from my camera or iPhone, I would have to unplug another device (i.e. my mouse or keyboard). This was such a pain!! Recently when I was at a Best Buy store, I was telling an associate about it and he recommended this to me. This was one of the best purchases I've made! There are bigger ones, but I wanted one that was small/compact enough that it wouldn't take up too much space, and I also didn't want to spend more than I had to. This is perfect, as it allows me just enough USB ports (4) to do what i need to, I don't have to unplug other devices and juggle them around, and it's very small and affordable!

    USB distribution Hub

This unit has enough auxiliary power to drive your multiple devices. The previous unit I had did not. USB depends on 5 volts, and only so much can be provided via the motherboard on the PC or laptop you are plugging into. The power brick that plugs in the wall boosts this level up so all things plugged in get their 5 volts. You will find that some devices will conflict with each other over the USB channels: Memory card readers and digital cameras at the same time as a GPS device with an internal card... just unplug devices if you find yours isn't connecting correctly. IF this was heavier or had a method to fix it in place for easy one handed plugging it would be the best in the world. But it is the best so far.

Bought a new computer, then I bought a new computer desk. Long story short, once I put my new computer underneath my new desk, I no longer had easy access to the USB ports. What a dilemma. Do I return the computer? Do I return the desk? No! This handy product solves all my problems*. I plug it in to the back of the compute, place it on the upper shelf of my computer desk (did I mention I got a new computer desk?), and voila: 4 fully functioning USB 3.0 ports within easy reach. Thanks Insignia. * Really, only my USB access problems are solved. I'm still losing my hair, I can't dunk anymore, and my daughter listens to Justin Bieber, but what do you expect for $30?

I purchased this hub because my desktop computer only has two USB 3.0 ports. At first my computer would not recognize the hub. I had to plug and unplug the cable to my computer a couple of times before the hub worked. Connected a USB 3.0 portable hard drive to the hub. Initial transfers from my desktop to the hard drive were quick. Then the hub stopped recognizing the hard drive. Unplugging and plugging the hard drive back in didn't work. Tried unplugging the hub and plugging it back in. Computer wouldn't recognize the hub. Ended up returning the hub for a refund at the local Best Buy store which was painless.

Bought this to add additional external hard drives to my WD My Cloud. USB 3.0 connection on the hub, my drives and the WD My Cloud make transfers quick and streaming video without any issues. Went with a powered hub because of the possible demand for power to feed the 2 external spinning hard drives and the one 3.0 flash drive connected to the one port on the WD My Cloud. Did not want to put too much demand on that one port I am connecting this hub to. Now I have even more storage space on my network drive for backup. This allows me to put all my video and documents in my cloud along with a back up of it all also. Easy to hook it all up and use.

I bought this for two reasons 1) it has the capability to supply sufficient current to run some of my older USB drives that would not be able to run directly from my laptop's USB ports thanks to its having its own power supply. 2) It is USB 3 so it can deal with the higher speeds of my new USB 3 drive. I find that I can use it without its power supply if I am not using the higher current drives, but can plug it in when I need the higher current. It works well for any USB device I have plugged into it.

As many of us know, finding a port hub that actually allows you to use all the extra ports is not an easy or inexpensive purchase, until now. My son uses this almost daily. He uses one or two ports for charging, a port for his external hard drive and one for his flash drive, allowing him to take homework assignments to school looking professionally made as opposed to a handwritten assignment other students turn in & he can print a copy at home or at school with ease. I am truly impressed with the quality of this hub, it's 3.0 connectivity & speed and the ability to use all additional ports at once without slowing anything down in the least.
