My external hard drive loses connection with my main computer every day or so when plugged through this product but it did this before I bought the port. I was hoping the port would fix the problem and it hasn't. It may very well be my hard drive. Otherwise the port hub appears to function properly.

I have a Surface Pro 3 (which unfortunately has only 1 USB port) and use this when I need to have more than 1 flash drive plugged for the project I am working on at the time. I do like the fact that it supports the higher speed transfer rates. I don't always need that, but it's invaluable when I do need it.
