Needs to be plugged in to an outlet. Its great when I need to charge my peripherals but don't want to keep my computer on all night.

Then you must unplug/replug the device to wake up the port. Also, with external power supply, devices powered by the hub (like external HDD's) will stay powered on while the computer is shut down. Transfer speeds are okay, but the intermittent port is a irritating, and prevents any higher rating. Bought 1/31/2024.

I'm considering switching to a usb c powered hub if the transfer speed are faster
