Amazing tv, lasting me 3 good years and had no problem with any electrical or anything. It’s a great tv for a basic 1080p. But it’s time for a upgrade for me.

I am pleasantly amazed at the way Insignia continues to come up with great TVs at outstanding prices. A better than you might expect picture, good sound, sufficient connectivity and an intelligent mix of features provide lots of "bang per buck" with this TV.
I am concerned that the entire consumer electronics sector (Best Buy and Insignia included) are trending towards more fluff and less fact when it come to product descriptions and specifications. Each year the information available in "specifications" sections becomes scanter and less relevant. This year's 40" Insignia (item number suffix NA-18) shows the Tuner as being "digital'. The list of specific tuners built into the TV are not shown as part of the specifications as was the case in previous years. I had to go to the Insignia web site and download the user guide to learn this years' 40" Insignia does not incorporate the 8-VSB tuner yet still had the NTSC analog (not digital) tuner. My problems have nothing to do with the exclusion of the 8-VSB tuner. My problems are the somewhat misleading claim that the tuner was only "digital" and that only those those with internet access could discover which tuners were part of the NS040 package.

Our first flat screen TV (Insignia™ - 40" LED 1080p HDTV). We have basic cable and not interested in streaming, so this fit our needs well. Great over-the-air pictures, but have trouble with getting 6-WLNS, Fox-47, and 10-WILX, but may be the antenna. Those that come in, are great, but if I tune for 10, then I may lose others. Of course it's so-so with our low-def standard cable, but that's not the TV's fault. Nice improvement for DVDs and new Blueray player. Good features for switching between devices; good multiple inputs and outputs. Hooked up a small Bluetooth wireless transmitter via optical and USB for power and I can run to headphones and/or speaker near my chair to not disturb others; TV's sound runs independently, so others can also listen, if desired. I love how I can run Blueray player using TV's remote with no programming. Overall a nice TV for modest use.

Purchased this 40 inch TV for a cottage.. very happy with size, HD, brightness & picture quality. Can not bet the price.... It weights only 20 lbs... perfect for hanging on wall.

The Insignia 40" HDTV was just what we needed. It was easy to set up, and the color was good. I preferred to change to "vivid" since the colors were brighter in a low light environment. The sound quality is really good as well. I have both Dish and indoor antenna, and switching between the two is easy. I am actually receiving more digital channels over the antenna now, and the picture quality is super. So far, very pleased. Nice HDTV for the price.

I really love this TV! The smart functions are one of the main reasons I purchased this model. I no longer subscribe to cable, just streaming services, saving about $120.00 per month. This TV has all the apps I use plus more that I am now using.
The size is great, it is very lightweight so hanging would be easy. There are two things I can say negative. One is that HDMI #1 would be blocked if I try to mount the TV. But that isn't a big issue for me. And the second is that there is no physical power button. Hopefully that won't be an issue!
The settings are easy to navigate and adjust to my liking. Hooking up to my wifi was super simple. And I was watching Netflix within 10 minutes of opening the box.
I am very happy with my purchase!!

Perfect size tv for a small room or garage, not too big not too small, color is very nice, and sound is really good. The only downside is the MHz, but it’s just perfect

We were upgrading from our older 32" screen to this one. The picture quality is good, images are clear. At times it seems a little bright and its been difficult to adjust it just right. But its a minor issue. Overall we paid $200 on sale for a 40" TV with plenty of inputs and a good picture. Its a value for the price.

I was looking for a tv that was a little bigger than what I had. I'm not a big home theater type of person so I was looking at price vs features. This was on sale and had all I needed. Haven't had it that long but so far I'm pleased with it.

As of post date, TV has presented an excellent picture and performed fairly well. Assembly was kind of odd ((Though you may chalk that up to User error)), and remote is kind of sensitive at times if you don't pay attention to what you are doing. For the price it is very hard to beat. Only con, albeit a minor one, I had was trying to install everything as the labels for the various ports were not labeled very well,.

I specifically chose this tv because of the great sound mentioned by several other reviewers, and was not disappointed. The picture is also great, and the size was a nice upgrade form our previous 32". Set up was also very easy - pretty much just plug n' play. In short, if you are looking for a reasonably priced tv with good sound & picture, this should fit the bill.

The picture is great - almost feels like 3D. The sound system (DTS) is a great improvement over that in the 32 inch Insignia. Because of the improvement, I didn't feel that I had to buy a free-standing speaker. The only drawback is the use of 2 widely separated legs rather than a center support. Not a major complaint.

Purchased 2 of these sets for a bar to replace some very very old 26" tvs to either side. These insignia sets have the same visual exterior as the two more expensive Sharp TVs we have in that same space. In terms of quality they have exceeded my expectations. Keeping in mind that these are not cutting edge, high end 4k sets they have very good color tones, are very clear and bright and have surprisingly loud speakers (though like most they are quite thin sounding)...all for just under $200 (before tax). This would be a great TV for a bedroom or someplace like a family/play room where you may want to have a decent TV, but it doesn't have to be the "home theater" centerpiece.

I purchased my first Insignia flat screen several years ago and wow have they improved. The audio on my first unit was lousy, the audio on the second Insignia was better, and this one is even better. Picture comparison is the same, much improved. Plus a much better remote control. You won't go wrong with this TV. Plus you'll be saving a ton over the expensive competition.
