This is an exceptional product, EASY TO SET UP! Couldn’t be easier really, once you power it up and press the Bluetooth buttons, the sub and surround speakers flawlessly find each other and like magic, instant surround sound! Plug in the supplied HDMI cable to the TV in the ARC enabled HDMI port and voi la, DOLBY surround is active. Really impressive how easy it is to set up and super easy to operate with the supplied remote. Impressively easy to use. LOW, MED or HIGH surround immerses you in surround. The sub is powerful and present. I’m a pro audio professional and can confidently say this is a very impressive piece. It sounds really good. AMAZING VALUE FOR THE MONEY. Buy this you will be very pleased with your decision. I bought one for me and one for a friend. You cannot beat this product from any other manufacturer. Dolby Atmos for $229, no one has this.

Sure there are higher priced options, but for the price, this Insignia soundbar is WELL worth a look. My living room is small and this unit fills the entire space with sound levels that I am extremely happy with. I even recommended this same exact unit to other family members. I'm not really a 'sound guy' but I am very much a 'movie guy,' and this set up completes movie experience in an extremely satisfying manner. Set up was simple and easy to manage. Very happy customer.

I'm neither an audiophile nor a professional reviewer, so it's hard for me to objectively compare the Insignia NS-SB512 to everything else on the market. However, my previous soundbar was a TCL S55H, which is fairly well-regarded for its price, and the Insignia beats it in most aspects. Obviously the most important aspect of a soundbar is the sound, and overall I've been impressed with the Insignia. The description touts the Enhanced Dialogue Clarity, and I can definitely notice that. Voices come through very clearly in general TV and movie usage, and while they occasionally sound a little over-boosted to me, mostly there's a noticable improvement in clarity and detail compared to my old soundbar. It sounds more like the people on the screen are actually speaking, if that makes sense. Treble is good too. Sounds like cymbals and harpsichords have a pleasant sparkle to them. The system doesn't get super loud overall... except for that giant subwoofer. It spits out boomy, very deep bass, and it's actually too loud for me at the default setting. The final fight in K-Pop Demon Hunters made me think the subwoofer was going to launch itself into the air. The surround effects are good. Going from virtual surround to actual rear speakers makes a huge difference, even though the rears on this system aren't particularly strong. I had to turn the Surround setting up to 4 to get a balanced feel. It's hard for me to comment on Atmos performance because YouTube doesn't support it and Netflix doesn't have any Atmos test videos, but I did notice that the crowd scenes in the aforementioned K-Pop Demon Hunters sounded very enveloping. After a lot of experimentation, the settings that sound the best for me overall are Bass -2, Treble +1, and Surround +4. Your milage may vary. While this system sounds great for the price, you do have to put up with some compromises. There's no room correction, volume leveling, or app available, and even the sound adjustments are limited. You can change the bass, treble, surround, and Atmos levels, and that's it. And there's not very much granularity in the adjustments you do get. The bass and treble only go from -3 to +3, and the Surround only goes from -5 to +5. There are different sound profiles available, but I haven't messed with them much, and honestly they don't sound all that different to me. I just leave it on Music, which the instructions confusingly say is best for general TV watching. The soundbar supports all the major formats available, but there's a bit of lag when it switches from one to another. There's usually 2-3 seconds of silence when coming back from a commercial on Disney+. The soundbar has a little screen on it that displays the volume, but it also shows the input source (e.g. "HDMI") constantly when the system is on. This doesn't bother me much, but some people might find it annoying. I also wish there was more information available about it - we have no idea what the total wattage or what Bluetooth version it uses. Is this the best soundbar you can get for $230? Like I said, I'm not a professional reviewer, so I can't say for certain. However, compared to the TCL model I mentioned above, I think the Insignia is more than worth the extra $70 MSRP unless you really want room correction or really don't want to mess with rear speakers. Or you could wait for the Insignia to go on sale. I got mine for $140, and at that price it's pretty hard to pass up.

A good sound system for a good price point thats pretty plug and play. You might have to mess with some settings to get it exactly how you want, but once you do it works pretty good. I personally had an issue where the talking in movies or shows was quite whereas the music was blasting, but after tweaking some easy settings i was able to fix it.

Insignia 5.1.2 Dolby Atmos Review: Out the box, plug and play easy set up. You may have to make adjustments, more than likely turning the surround sound up for the satellites, as well as the Dolby setting medium to high if you are in a larger room. The quality of bass is subpar but becomes surprisingly sufficient when it receives high quality input. The sound bar excels at low to medium volumes, giving the depth of sound we all are looking for. At higher volumes, the sound bar production may become muddy to true audiophiles. If you listen to a lot of music or want strong mid range and heavy low end bass, this is not the set up for you! This system unleashes its potential when paired with an high quality audio input signal like Dolby or DTS. I mainly stream all of my shows or movies and the majority are in 1080p, which offers 5.1 surround sound but it’s not the higher quality audio that usually pairs with UHD delivery. Cons: the sound bar may create popping sounds when switching between apps and the audio signal quality fluctuates. Make sure you have fast WiFi and even better, a wired connection for best reproduction along with high quality wires. If not, I’ve experienced popping sounds from this sound bar. I’ve read online that the popping sound didn’t go away until the unit was replaced or the addition of higher quality wires for some. Me personally, I would upgrade the Ethernet and HDMI cords especially if they are running a long distance first before coming to the conclusion that the unit is bad. At this time, the insignia satellite speaker stands in store are not compatible, you will have to buy a third party universal stand to accommodate these satellites.

It was pretty easy to set up once you know where you're putting the speakers. The sound quality is good but I don't feel I get as much bass and ambient sounds as I did when we had just the sound bar. We might have to play around with it more and see if maybe placement is our problem. For the money, I feel it was a good buy.

I was genuinely surprised by how good this Insignia 5.1.2 soundbar system sounds for the price. Setup was straightforward, and having wireless rear speakers and a dedicated subwoofer makes a huge difference compared to standard soundbars. Dolby Atmos and DTS:X content delivers a convincing surround experience — dialogue is clear, effects are well-placed, and the upward-firing speakers add noticeable height in movies and TV shows. The subwoofer hits hard without being muddy, and the rear speakers really help immerse you in the action. Bluetooth works reliably for music, and while this system won’t replace a high-end AVR setup, it punches far above its weight. For apartments, living rooms, or anyone who wants true surround sound without running wires or spending thousands, this is an excellent value. Pros: True surround sound with wireless rears Strong bass from the subwoofer Dolby Atmos & DTS:X support Great value for the price Cons: App and EQ options are basic Atmos effect depends on room layout Overall, this is one of the best budget-friendly home theater upgrades I’ve owned. Highly recommended if you want cinematic sound without the complexity.

Solid. It’s all wireless just plug-in play. Spent less than five minutes setting up the entire thing. I recommend using the HDMI for audio for the best surround sound experience. Bluetooth is great wireless, but it won’t give you as much as a clarity or effect in the audio.

This set is great, but with some small misses and a major flaw. The sound is great, but the small speakers could produce a stronger sound for a more immersive feel. They also come with a short cord which makes hanging them high impossible without an extension cord. The cord should also fit more discreetly inside the speak so that it can sit fully against the wall when hung. Setup is incredibly easy, just plug everything in and connect to your smart TV. Everything is already paired together. No need to pair each piece individually is a huge time saver. Now the MAJOR flaw. If the soundbar becomes unpaired from the subwoofer, there is a known glitch that it may not pair ever again. As was the issue in my case. The subwoofer was paired to the TV at one point, disconnecting it from the soundbar pairing, and could not be re-paired to the soundbar. After researching, this is a common problem, sometimes occuring straight out of the box (not ever pairing to begin with). We did a hard reset and followed all of the troubleshooting, but nothing worked so it had to be returned.

Only given this sound bar for stars because I’ve had issues with it. Sometimes the sound does not play through the main Center speaker. Not sure if it’s an issue with my TV not syncing out with the HDMI settings, but I have to unplug the power and reconnect in order for the speaker to connect to my television. Outside of the speaker connection issue the entire surround sound. System is actually way louder than my last Home theater system.
