I am writing this review about 14 months after I purchased this TV. At first the TV worked wonderful and it was great, but a couple of days ago I got vertical colorful lines up and down the tv all the way across. You couldn't see anything behind them, I went online to see if there was a problem that I could fix because I didn't purchase a extended warranty, and most things I could find said that a faulty T-Con board could be the problem. I purchased another T-Con board and it still doesn't work. Now I have a useless 50 inch paperweight after a little over a year.

I am an avid Firestick user and love that Best Buy sells a budget friendly 4K TV with the Fire TV built in. The TV is very light and was very easy to mount. That was the first thing I liked about this TV. I was able to have it mounted in about 15 minutes. I then setup the TV and registered it to my Amazon account. No different then setting up a Firestick or Fire TV. I then watched a few minute long video and was up and ready to go. The TV works perfect and the features are really nice for the price. The only difference on the TV interface and that of a Fire device is the addition of sources (HDMI) and live TV mode. Very easy to use. You can navigate the home screen very easily with the remote. I also love the feel of the remote, bigger than a regular Fire device with quick launch buttons for 4 different apps like Netflix. I then connected the TV to my Echo Dot from my bedroom. Now i can simply give voice commands to Alexa and she will control the TV. Not an absolute necessity but still very cool. The only thing is you have to call the device "Fire TV" for it to work, even if you give the TV it's own name in the Alexa app. You can turn the TV on and off and even just tell Alexa to open a show/movie from Netflix and it will go right to it. Very nice. The picture quality is also very good, a huge upgrade from my other bedroom TV which was 1080p. The speakers are even louder than the Sony TV in which it replaced. So far I have zero complaints about this TV and it will serve me well in my bedroom with all of the features I want at a rock bottom price. Love it!

Bought this television on 12/16/2019 and 7/30/2021 the screen goes out and the television could not be repaired. It was hanging on my wall and it was in immaculate condition and just played out. This is terrible. The television lasts all about 1 year and 7 months. If you did not purchase the warranty then you are screwed. Best buy did not do anything... This is the worse I have ever experienced and I am not buying from Best buy or insignia.

Picture is not as sharp as I had hoped for being a 4k TV. Also TV does not keep the same source when powered off. Each time you turn the set on you must change source. ie cable box.

Stopped Working Right After Warranty Expired

After one year of having this TV, it stopped opening apps (hulu, Disney plus) and would restart every single time you tried to open them. It just so happened this was one month after the warranty expired. Insignia, Amazon and Best Buy were all no help and wanted to charge $150+ to take a look at the TV (after we had to buy $60 worth of new remotes for it). I will not be purchasing anything from Insiginia or Best Buy again.

Got this TV on a black Friday sale to replace my Samsung that just randomly died. The picture is horrible. All dark colors are super grainy and pixelated. It actually made watching TV annoying. Thank God Best Buy has a good return policy. I just went there and bought a new Samsung to replace it. I wouldn't waste your money on this TV. Spend a little extra for a much better picture.

Last only Two and a 1/2 years. Back light problems screen dark, cannot get Geek squad nor tech support on phone. Hold time for hours. After reading reviews this is a regular problem with this TV. Not at all worth the buy. Will pay just as much to have them fix it. Ask to displayed wrong purchase date I purchase it in 01/08/2020

I have had this TV just shy of 2 years and the backlight has dimmed and all the picture colors are completely off. I’ve tried all the necessary troubleshooting routes to no avail. This is the 2nd Insignia brand TV that we’ve owned which has failed us. They are great for the time that they last but don’t last very long. Pretty bummed that we have to shell out more money for a new TV.

      Hi Laura,

Thank you for taking the time to review our Insignia 50" Fire TV Edition. I understand the wrong remote was included in the box and that can be disappointing. You should know that the TV has a one-year manufacturer's warranty and that includes parts like remotes. If you have any questions or concerns, please, use the link below to reach us.
