Too hard to change channels. Channel listing doesn't tell what is on the channels. On some channels the picture flickers all the time. Worst item I have ever brought at Best Buy.

Didn’t realize it was a fire edition... can’t seem to figure out if it works with cable or only through sling etc - we bought it for our RV and it’s very tricky to hook up to get channels

I`ve been a big proponent of the upper range of TVs as it is something I use every day, but this new Fire TV definitely is a strong competitor for its price point. Firstly, the aesthetics of the TV fit the mid-range price point very well as it is a sleek form factor and materials do not appear cheap. This carries over to the remote as it is a traditional Amazon remote and works well with the TV. Then with the picture, this is the aspect I was exceptionally pleased about for this price point. Nowadays there are many variations of 4k and HDR so I was not expecting much for the price, but upon watching numerous shows and movies that were 4k and HDR compatible I was impressed with the picture in a variety of ways. If you are coming from anything not previously 4k and HDR you will definitely be able to tell how much sharper and clear the picture is. Then briefly on the sound of the TV I found it very strong out of the box and didn`t find an issue at all as I didn`t have any problems with the clarity of voice or loudness. I did end up setting up a Polk soundbar through HDMI ARC and was eventually able to get it to work, however, it was not as easy as plug and play as I did have to disconnect it and reconnect it a couple times for the TV to recognize it, but since it recognized it I have not had a problem. Then finally the smart aspect is what this TV is predominantly advertised for. This was where the TV reminded me of the price point as with the solid aesthetics and wonderful picture the smart aspect wasn`t as strong as more expensive models. For its purpose, the smart functions work great if you need the basic features of simply watching Netflix. Ironically though, there are times where I have difficulty loading Amazon specific content through Prime Video as it will constantly load and never start until I turn the TV off or unplug and plug it back in. However, both Hulu Live and Netflix have worked very fluidly. Then also I am just not a proponent of the interface as it seems very cluttered with the various ads and suggestions for content. Overall, for the price, this is a great value and I would highly suggest it for that sub $600-$700 range. Both the aesthetics and picture were strong points for me, but the interface did fall a little short for me at times. If you can bare the small little bugs every once and awhile I would definitely recommend this TV.

    Great TV for price range

Originally bought the 43" onsale for $199 but decided I had space for the larger. Waited until TV was onsale for $299 ($279 with student deals discount). Fire TV interface is great at presenting content (heavy on Amazon). Overall picture is good...maybe not as good as Samsung or Sony but again for the price I could two or three sets for the price of one Samsung. When you get it home you won't have a wall of competing displays to judge against. My grips have to do with the OTA channels. There is no way to manually tune in a station. I live about 50+ miles away and some local channels that I was able to get with my previous 10 year old Samsung LCD I'm not able to get as well. Secondly the remote doesn't have buttons for directly changing to a channel. You have to use the Channel Guide which does give a nice grid with what's on TV but requires lots of scrolling if you live in area with plenty of channels available. Lastlily I haven't found a code on my universal cable reomte to allow me to switch input sources without using the tv remote. You can use the supplied remote to enter voice commands or press and hold the home button to bring up a menu with the inputs as well, You can also use an echo device (i.e. echo dot) to also give voice commands (however I've had trouble with pairing the two devices..this is a known bug and hopefully it will get resolved soon...see https://www.amazonforum.com/forums/devices/fire-tv/496649-echo-wont-stay-linked-to-fire-tv). Beyond these issues I still think this TV is a solid buy for the price and if you want the Fire interface. I personally prefer this set over the Toshiba Fire TV mainly due to the on device power/input button location. On the Insignia the button sits on the front bottom easy to reach whereas the Toshiba is a bit recessed on the side. Since I had a tight cabinet that barely fits my TV having access on the front was a must. Otherwise I think there is little difference between the two sets.
