Only 2 years with the TV screen not working. Problems with the remote continuously and having to call customer service to sync over again. Price to fix the screen almost the cost of a new TV.

    Searching for Remote

Right out of the box, this said "searching for remote." I held down the home button, tried resetting the remote, etc. It still would not connect. I was on the phone with Insignia customer support for 45 minutes. I did everything they told me to do and it still wouldn't connect. This TV has no buttons and no way of accessing menus, etc. without a remote. If you can't get the remote to work, then it's useless. I feel that this was more of an issue with the Amazon Fire TV portion than with Insignia. Amazon needs to fix their remotes and learn how to design user interfaces better. I returned this garbage and got a LG.

Loved the tv and its features. Unfortunately the screen faded dark and flickered at 5 year mark.

While the price was great, at 269.00 dollars, TV only lasted a little over four years. I have owned Samsung TVs without any issues, my current Samsung is around seven years old and we haven't had any issues. Also the Insignia picture was OK, the TV was sluggish when powering up.

Insignia™ - 50” Class LED 4K UHD Smart Fire TV Edi

Had been great for the couple years it has worked, but has today just broken down. There's a blue flashing light and the screen is so dim I can only see it from a foot away at a specific angle. I went through help forums, switched outlets, power cycled, and even factory reset it. All updates had been installed and it worked one day then the next went like this so it's pretty disappointing.

    DO NOT BUY!!!!

BUYER BEWARE!! I’ve owned this TV for just over 3 years and it just broke!! Bought it when I moved into this apartment and has been sitting in the same space for its entire life and all of a sudden the screen went so dark you can see it’s turned on, but can’t see the picture. It also blinks to black in this state about every other second. A quick google shows this is a VERY common problem w Insignia TV’s and has no fix! I liked this TV so much when I originally bought it I suggested my parents get one and even bought a second one for my bedroom. My parents TV broke with the same issue a few months ago after they owned it for just a little over 2 years. My bedroom Insignia is only 1 year old at the moment. We’ll see how long it hangs on for. Overall, I would NOT recommend. IMO, even a cheaper TV should last at least 5 years.

If You're Excited to Control with Alexa DO NOT BUY

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The software just isn't ready. The TVs picture and sound is fine but it is barely compatible with Alexa. Every few weeks I have to change the wording to get her to play what I want. More hassle than changing it manually (which you can't do). One week it will be "Alexa play the office" a week later it will be "Alexa play The Office on Fire TV" then "Play The Office on Netlix" or "launch Netflix on fire TV.....Alex now play The Office". Its a very frustrating guessing game. Now she's not pausing and resuming which is super fun! The commands and her capabilities are always changing and its not really worth it. Currently if I want to watch The Office she searches the TV for all the options and shows me the results...but I have no way to select what I want so I have to get the remote anyway. Oh and she rarely resumes shows where you left off. It's usually the pilot so again, not great So I strongly advise not to buy this TV if you are excited to control with Alexa. Its clearly still in beta. Every day is a guessing game on how to word commands, and the software is very limiting. Hopefully I'll be able to play and pause soon!

I've owned this tv for 3 years and this past week it stopped working. The tv powers on, but then just goes black. I was able to reset the tv a few times this week which worked, but now the reset trick isn't working. Im dsappointed by the short life span.

It was great. Just short of 3yrs. The industry projects between 5,000hrs & 10,000hrs. I got less than the industry minium. Highly disappointed. My non smart 43" Insignia that i had for many yrs, & sold for this one, is still working. Since i do not recommend, my replacement will b a different brand.

Picture is fine, but Fire TV software is absolute dogwater. Turns off at random times and volume bar does not consistently display when expected. Extremely sluggish overall; wish I had bought literally anything else.
