Customers are saying

Customers are enthusiastic about the 50-Pint Portable Dehumidifier's performance, quiet operation, and ease of use. Many appreciate its effectiveness in removing moisture and find it easy to set up, with some even highlighting its affordability. However, some users mention challenges with the water tank, noting that it can be difficult to replace and requires frequent emptying. A few also point out that the unit's size is larger than anticipated.

This humidifier does the job for my basement. I wouldn't call it quiet, but it's also not loud. Almost like having a fan running in the background. Overall, I'm satisfied with my deal of the day purchase.

This dehumidifier is just ok. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I have no idea why. I will not be buying this brand of dehumidifier again. I will choose another brand.

One feature I like are the built in handles for moving it. Noise wise it is one of the quieter units I have had. However it's humidity gage reads high by 7%. It was not able to lower the humidity to 45% per its gauge. It took it three days to get the humidity down to 50% on its gauge. A previous 70 pint unit did so in 4 hours. The area I have it in is under 1000 Sq feet. I would have returned it except I lost track of time.

I live in South Florida (maximum humidity), I bought this dehumidifier on the Deal of the Day Sale. It only removed 25 Pints a Day. I returned it for the larger 70 pt one.

Arrived and looked good. Set it up, got it running, and a puddle formed below it. There was a huge crack on the tank where it meets the front of the machine. Strange where it was to be honest. No damage anywhere else, but when I found the crack (and I had removed the tank and examined when getting the wire mount and whatnot, but somehow didn’t notice) and went to wipe out the tank before returning this big piece of black plastic came falling out. No idea where that came from (where the crack existed there definitely was no black plastic). Overall just didn’t give me comfort in the quality and opted to return. Otherwise, it sure looked nice and is HUGE, but with breaks where and how they were I wasn’t convinced I wanted another.

Worked well and did a good job, but the display was out of order within couple of months. I could not identify the humidity settings. Maybe this item was defective but overall others reviews were good. I would have been fine with an exchange, but was not available

Good product but not the right fit for me

I'm a first time dehumidifier owner, so this review is from the perspective of someone who doesn't have a lot of experience with them. I live in Florida and it's pretty much humid year round. I really need to replace my AC unit, but that's financially not an option at the moment, so I thought I'd buy a dehumidifier to help offset the AC. The AC gets real cold, it just doesn't do a good job of removing the humidity (which typically floats around 70-75%) from the air. Everything stays damp and, without running the AC and excessive amount, I get musty smells (especially in the bathroom). Fast forward, I decide to buy a dehumidifier. I settled on this 50-pint unit because the price was right and I didn't want anything any bigger in my house. It comes in the mail and, I have to say, it was larger than I was expecting. It is definitely not a slim, svelt unit like some of the other models I had looked at. I fired it up, and not only is it thicc, it's loud too. Now, for the good part. Running it 24/7, it's reduced my humidity from 75% to 45%, but I have to dump the bucket twice a day or it shuts down. One day I forgot to dump the bucket before I left for work and the humidity was back up to 65%...yikes!. At the end of the day, I would say this is a good value for what you get, but expect something that sounds like you've got a wall unit going full blast at all times. I'm not sure why the fans are so loud. I've owned a number of air purifiers over the years and they're nothing like that. If you're on a budget, get this unit or the 70 pint unit (I regret not getting the 70 pint unit, the bucket on the 50 pint unit fills too quickly). If you're not on a budget, look elsewhere for a unit that's not quiet as noisy. Performance - 9/10 Price - 9/10 Noise - 4/10 Size/Appearance - 5/10

Lasted less than 2 years, coil started to freeze up after 16 months which means unit is low on Freon. Unit stopped removing moisture from air completely after 22 months. disappointed with Insignia

    Good Unit, Missing Hose

    Posted .

I have never bought a dehumidifier before so this is a first. I got it in the mail, unboxed it and I noticed 2 things before using it. The cap for the hose attachment was cross threaded from the factory and it was missing the hose. I have no clue if it comes with one or if mine was missing from factory. This unit works pretty well, I have to empty it about 2x daily, my basement is normally around 50-60% humidity, this has consistently brought it down to 35-40%. Works like a work horse, ill be using and abusing it until it runs itself into the ground. This unit is not the loudest but is definitely not quiet, my computer desk is 3 feet from it and it's a tad noisy.

Arrived DOA. Plugs in and lights come on, but will not turn on/stay on. Only functioning button is the timer, but despite it being set, it still won't function. It's heading back to Best Buy.
