I bought it to hook up my wireless hearing aids. Plugged in and now I can hear the tv at the volume that suits me without upsetting my wife

Just about all of our audio setups are connected through digital optical cords. It makes a slight difference so if you're on the fence about buying it, just give in. It will be worth it in the long run.

Optical cords seem to go bad, at least for me, much more often that other types of cords. I had bought an expensive optical cord for our PlayStation and it simply failed. I thought the input was fried but, instead I went to Best Buy to replace the cable hoping that was the problem. Luckily it was the cable and this much cheaper replacement cable is working just fine.

Bought this for inexpensive soundbar for the tv. Didn't need anything expensive but I didn't want to use RCA connection (Red and white sound cables).

Never used this type of cable before, but my new TV didn't come with RCA jacks. So I just walked into Bust Buy and told them what I needed and then I walked out. Lucky for me, I have a Bose set up and it also accepted an optical cable. Sound is amazing, don't know why I didn't use these in the past as my Lifestyle system had the plug for it (years ago).
