This cable provided just what we needed as we upgraded to faster internet and needed a shorter cat cable so it didn’t take up so much under desk space

I bought a ten foot Cat 8 cable for my router and wanted to pair it with another Cat 8 cable for my modem.

This is not ideal for use. But before purchasing these types of ethernet cords. Do research of what your internet is capable of doing. For example, look at speeds, how long is the device from router. Also, these cords do expire time to time. But this cord is working for our devices that we have.

Maybe overkill for my needs but totally future proof my needs :)

[Employee of bestbuy] Cat 8 is for offices or larger areas to run ethernet to other servers. Not mainly used for personal use

I've been meaning to upgrade all of my Ethernet cables for a while now. I still have a couple of old Cat-5 and mostly Cat-6 cables for everything. Out of the box, the first thing you notice is how thick this cable is. A massive improvement over my old cables. More shielding from interference is always good. Especially where I have this setup. I have a lot of electronics in a small area. My modem and router are under my TV, along with a PS5, wireless headset, and soundbar. I also have lights on the back of my TV with a camera so that they can change with the picture. That's a lot of potential electrical interference in one area. I first connected it between the modem and router and did notice an improvement in speed and stability. I then tried it connected between the router and PS5. It definitely improved my gaming experience. Less lag and packet loss while playing. The connection is very solid. A nice noticeable "click" when connecting with no wiggle at the connection point. A few of my old cables have noticeable wiggle in the connection. These ends are stout. I plan on buying several more and upgrading all of my cables. Ethernet cables are often forgotten. You buy the initial product (modem, router, etc.), use the Ethernet cable that came with it and never think about it again. It's time to upgrade them! Overall, it is an upgrade that I highly recommend.

The Insignia 6 ft. Cat-8 Ultra High-Speed Ethernet Cable in Black is an outstanding choice for anyone seeking reliable, high-performance wired network connectivity. This cable combines exceptional data throughput, robust construction, and practical length—making it ideal for gamers, home offices, streaming setups, and professional environments where stable, high-speed networking is essential. From a performance standpoint, the Cat-8 specification places this cable at the top tier of consumer Ethernet standards. With support for bandwidths up to 2000 MHz and speeds up to 40 Gbps (when paired with compatible equipment), it significantly outpaces older Cat-5e and Cat-6 cables. This translates into faster file transfers, reduced latency during competitive gaming, and smoother 4K/8K streaming without the jitter or packet loss that can occur over wireless connections. Whether you’re transferring large media files, hosting virtual meetings, or engaging in bandwidth-intensive tasks, this cable delivers consistent, low-lag performance you can depend on. Build quality is another highlight. The cable feels sturdy yet flexible, with durable shielding that prevents interference from other electronics and maintains signal integrity over its length. The connectors are solidly constructed and fit securely into Ethernet ports, reducing the risk of accidental disconnection. At 6 feet, the length is versatile for most desktop and entertainment configurations—long enough to reach between routers and devices without excess slack, and convenient for clean, organized cabling. Overall, the Insignia 6 ft. Cat-8 Ultra High-Speed Ethernet Cable is a smart upgrade for anyone serious about network performance. Its combination of blazing speeds, reliable construction, and practical design makes it an excellent value and a dependable part of any wired networking setup. You can trust this cable to support high-demand connections now and well into the future.

This Insignia 6ft Cat-8 ethernet cable is the perfect example of something being over-engineered to maximize profits but still being a decent buy. As far as I know, there aren't any 25GbE NICs or switches available that can truly make use of a Cat-8 cable, I could definitely envision an environment when the shielding required for the Cat-8 standard would be beneficial. And even if you don't need the shielding, if you have crafted your desk to have a certain 'look' in terms of cabling, there's definitely an appeal to having a THICC cable like this to match your other cables. Since I don't have any 25GbE gear to make full use of the bandwidth of this cable, I settled for testing between two 10 GbE switches and confirmed that I could get appropriate speeds from the cable (not that I don't have plenty of Cat5e or Cat6 cables for that). From a visual standpoint, I ended up using this cable to connect to one of my TVs, where it matches perfectly with the thick HDMI cables connected to the display. Compared to other patch cables available on a retail shelf, this doesn't seem much more expensive and provides piece of mind in high EMI environments plus it just looks nice.

This is a 6 foot long Ethernet cable. It is very well designed and very sturdy. It feels like it will be quite durable. The cable is very thick, so plenty of protection and appears to provide adequate shielding. Connecting my PC direct to a mesh network node. This is not the primary WiFi 7 node but one of the satellite nodes. I can nearly max out the connection during a speed test. This cable allows throughput faster than the cat 6 I had previously with much better shielding. Testing throughput increased speeds by about 10% to my primary node. The RJ45 connector is protected very well by the design of the sheath that protects the cable end and connector. There is not much bulk added to the connector, so it should not cause any tightness when connecting to a switch, router or gateway/modem. I would highly recommend this cable especially if you are connecting a smart TV or streaming device to maximize your throughput. Using it with a PC or laptop will allow you to connect to a WiFi connection and a LAN drop.

As the name suggests, this Insignia Cat-8 ethernet cable supports the latest Category 8 standard for ethernet cabling, and as such is a future-proof bet. By specification, it supports up to 2000 MHz signal frequency, and can deliver up to 40 Gbps in terms of data. In my case, I’m yet to find any device that can test that out, but it worked perfectly to connect via 10GB ethernet port between my router and mini-pc. It’s 6 feet in length which was plenty for my case, and the cable itself is well built and has some heft. The connectors are very solid and have strain-relief built into it, so I’m hoping to get less damage over time during plugging/unplugging. The solid build comes with its own downsides though. For some instances I need an ethernet patch cable that needs to be stuck in a very tight space at some awkward corner. Getting this connector latched properly can be quite a challenge. Furthermore the thick cable is not very flexible, so getting to fit in a small space is almost impossible. For these type cases, a slimmer cable, albeit less “powerful”, can do the trick. So choose wisely. Overall, great product from Insignia for an affordable price and works very well for my use case.

Normally, I'd have a bunch of ethernet cables around my house. Well, not today. We recently moved and everything was packed up and in boxes. The day I need an ethernet cable is the day I can't find it. Luckily, my new Insignia ethernet cable was delivered the very next day. When it comes to quality and affordability, it's really hard to go wrong with Best Buy's Insignia products. I've purchased many Insignia branded products and have never been disappointed with them. Many of them are still in use after a few years. Just recently, I was traveling and forgot my charger. I picked up a 2 pack of Insignia branded phone chargers at an incredible price. They are still going strong. Well, the Insignia High Speed Ethernet cable is no different. The quality is great and the length is perfect to get my router connected in our new home. The ethernet cable itself feels very robust and going strong. If you are looking for quality and affordability, don't pass up on Insignia. You will not be disappointed.
