Ill be taking it back, it has a short in it. Has to be in the plug a certain way for it to come on. It gets two stars for the good price.

This review is for the Insignia 6-Outlet 1,080 Joules Surge Protector, model NS-HW606. I must say that Insignia has delivered when it comes to this surge protector. In fact, that very thing happened about an hour and a half ago. There are surge protectors, and then there are surge protectors. This is one of those. When I opened the packaging, the previously described features came to life — 6 outlets, an on(reset)/off switch, and my favorite feature, the wall-hugging plug. This feature alone puts this protector heads and tails above others…at least those whose plugs stick straight out. This Insignia Surge Protector can easily be plugged in and then have a piece of furniture put up right against it without damaging the integrity of the power cord. Not only that, but the plug is molded at an offset to the right. This makes it so that, if necessary, you can plug this in to the top outlet in the wall and still have access to the bottom outlet. Genius. If you couple the wall-hugging aspect with the 1080 joules of protection for your electronic devices, you just can’t go wrong with the Insignia 6-Outlet 1,080 Joules Surge Protector.

The Insignia surge protector is a standard surge protector but it also had an LED indicator light showing that it is still working. Too often we tend to forget the age of a surge protector and they should be replaced. Most estimates put the average lifespan of a surge protector at three to five years, and if your home has frequent brownouts or blackouts, you might want to replace your surge protectors as often as every two years. It is really easy to loose track of purchase date so I am going to place a label on this device so that I remember to replace. This 6- outlet black surge protector has 1,080 Joules of protection with a 6 foot cord and the plug in is flat. It is UL certified and made in China. It comes with $10 K equipment guarantee but not sure how one would ever remember this or collect but this is fairly standard in the industry. This has 6 plug-in for standard electrical equipment but it does not had any USB ports. It has a shut off switch & I like this since I power off my TV at night since my Roku feels warm & it probably keeps my TV happy too.

This is a standard multi outlet power strip. No frills or extra features but it does what it needs to do. Protects your household items. It's 1,080 joules so I probably would suggest one of their higher models if you have several expensive items to protect but for a few electronics and some smaller items mixed in im sure this would be fine. Many people don't think about how easily a power outage or surge can damage electronics they are more concerned about being able to reach the power outlet and go cheap and just use an extension cord. Big mistake especially nowadays as something as simple as a lamp can have electronics they can burnout or get damaged by an electrical surge. As far as build quality it's plastic as most are and it has a longer cord which obviously is easier to hide or hide behind furniture or other items. We have a variety of Insignia products in our home and have always had good luck with their longevity so I don't expect this to be any different. I would recommend the brand.

Well it works. The cord length is what I needed, and it seems to be well made. The outlets are not loose, so connections stay secure. There is an led indicator light to tell you when its on and safe to use. I have not stress tested it with industrial equipment or anything close to that, buy I am running a monitor and laptop off it, and the occasional phone charging to go along with it, and its handled it well. These kinds of equipments are best when you can just forget that they are there. One thing I wish they had done better, is the angle of the plug that goes into the wall socket. Its a 90 degree plug, which is great so it doesn't stick straight out, and can be plugged behind tight areas. It also is not straight down, but comes out at almost a 45 degree angle off the vertical axis, still sticking close to the wall. This is the part, where I was hoping they could have done better, the angle could have been bigger, because even with this angled approach, if I have to put this in the top socket, the bottom socket is very limited to small, narrow plugs. Or best, if it could have had an angle that we can control. Mwuah! that would have put the cherry on top.

you can never have too many power strips in your house now a days, and this one from best buy/Insignia fits the bill quite nicely. The power cord is rather short, but I usually keep these things as close to the wall as possible, so that wasnt a big deal for me. Its nice that it has holes on the back for those who want to mount it on the wall or the baseboard directly, and, having a somewhat recessed power on and off switch help reduce the amount of times I accidentally shut the power off with my fat fingers! We dont get alot of lightning storms here in Arizona, but its nice to know that devices plugged into this power strip with have some protection against getting zapped by lightning, if that were to ever happen. this is perfect for connecting holiday lights and other xmas decorations around your house, and, even though its pretty in expensive, it has decent weight to it, and should be fine for use everywhere around your house. it isnt the best setup for plugging in those large brick type power blocks, but for using with traditional plugs, it will be just fine! Dont overpay for one of these things, this one will do the job just fine for a nice low price!

This is an excellent choice for a simple TV and streaming box setup, or for a second bedroom. If you're using something like a power-hungry and expensive gaming PC, then you might want better protection in the joules rating from a more expensive device, but for the vast majority of regular use cases this power strip will do you fine. Construction is durable for the money and, most importantly the outlets are spaced an adequate distance apart if you've got a collection of wonky and unnecessarily big AC adapters. Be advised though that this power strip, like all others in this shape, will pose challenges if you're looking to cram more than three oversized AC bricks in a line. For home office, lighting, dorm room, or other regular electronics use, this is more than an adequate solution, and the build quality is better than the cheap knockoffs you get from online retailers for an almost equal price. This is a recommended product for people who just need something simple and effective to expand the number of outlets available in a corner of your house or apartment, or who just need a single, uncomplicated device to supply power to a laptop, printer, and lamp. P.S. all the outlets receive full power. I've had bad experiences with more expensive models where one outlet on the surge protector doesn't receive the same voltage or power as the others, but this is not the case with this strip. Everything works as it should. Simple is often simply better.
