So far, I haven't had any problems with overheating, and the few times I've overloaded it, it simply went slower. Reversing the direction and then switching back to forward shred fixed any stuck material. Solid purchase

I definitely put more than 6 sheets worth of thickness in it a few times and it chugged through it. Given the price and reasonable expectations, it did what I needed it to do. Why spend more for something that works well enough?
