We were originally looking for a chest freezer for our backyard utility closet for the longest time just before the pandemic and everything was on back order for monnntthhsss. Then this upright freezer popped up and we pulled the trigger. It turned out that the upright freezer was exactly what we were looking for. It was small enough to fit in the closet with enough room to spare. The inside is spacious and with shelves so that you can see everything that you are storing-freezing and prevents stuff from getting lost on the bottom of the chest freezer. It also helps from having to dig through stuff to get to the bottom of the chest. I highly recommend this upright freezer.

I am glad I purchased the 7 Cu. Ft. Garage ready Upright Freezer . It is compact and takes up very little garage space. It was also very reasonably priced with ample inner storage capacity and nicely shelved for proper storage. The settings allow different freezer temperatures. However, I noticed a little ice build up that may require defrosting.

    Perfect size for my household

We were looking for a medium-sized freezer for storing flour and nuts in our garage after buying large (too large) amounts of both for the pandemic lockdown. Most reasonably-priced freezers were either really small (3 cu. ft.) or much larger (14-17 cu. ft.). This size was just right. It is COMPLETELY silent, works really well (so far), and has a very small footprint. The price was good, too. The only cons are the lack of a light and the need to use two hands to open it (one to hold the freezer and the other to pull the door open), both noted by other reviewers. Also, do not plan on picking it up yourself unless you have a truck that can carry it upright and some strong helpers to unload it.

I’m happy with the freezer itself! It’s compact, has glass shelves for better organization than a chest freezer, and has a good bit of room within. I haven’t had an issues so far with it staying cold or working properly. The reason I knocked off a star was more for the Best Buy handling. One we got it home out of the box after picking it up from the store, it was pretty well dented and crumpled on the bottom corners. I’m assuming it was from poor handling. Best Buy did give us a credit on our bill, but we had to place a shim under the bottom so the freezer would sit upright. Unfortunately it was the only one left in the store, so I will deal with it.

I recently purchased the Insignia™ 7 Cu. Ft. Garage Ready Upright Freezer in White from Best Buy, and I couldn't be happier with my purchase. This freezer has been an absolute game-changer for me and my household. First and foremost, the capacity of this freezer is impressive. With 7 cubic feet of space, it provides ample room to store all of our frozen items without any trouble. Whether it's frozen meats, vegetables, or even ice cream, I can fit everything I need inside with ease. The adjustable shelves and door bins are also a great feature, allowing me to organize and access my items conveniently. One aspect that truly sets this freezer apart is its "Garage Ready" functionality. Living in a region with extreme temperatures, it's reassuring to know that this freezer is built to withstand such conditions. It operates flawlessly even in our unheated garage, maintaining a consistent temperature and ensuring that our food stays frozen at all times. The overall design and build quality of the Insignia™ freezer are outstanding. The interior lighting is a thoughtful addition, making it easy to locate items, even in dimly lit environments. In terms of performance, this freezer excels. It freezes food quickly and efficiently, and the temperature controls allow me to adjust it to my desired level without any hassle. It operates quietly, which is a huge plus, as it doesn't disrupt the peaceful ambiance of our home. Lastly, I must commend Best Buy for their exceptional customer service. I bought the Insignia 7 Cu. Ft. Upright Freezer as an open box item from Best Buy for a great price, along with a 3-year warranty. Overall, it’s a great deal! Pros: Affordable price for a good-quality freezer. Compact but spacious enough for my needs. Runs quietly. The 3-year warranty adds peace of mind. Cons: Small dent (expected with open box), but it doesn’t affect performance. Could use more shelving options. If you don’t mind a minor cosmetic flaw, this freezer is a great value!

I've had this for almost a month and it works very well. I can fit a ton of food in it and can easily locate my items. I haven't seen any ice build up and haven't had any problems with the freezer. There aren't many 7cu ft upright freezers in this price range, and I have always been able to trust Best Buy to sell and make quality products (insignia is Best Buy's brand), so I took a chance on buying their freezer and I'm glad I did. Sam's Club has one that's cheaper, but I'd rather have Best Buy's because I can more easily get the freezer looked at or replaced if anything goes wrong.

I'll start with saying I've only had it for a couple of days, but it's a great little freezer. I was able to move it into my townhouse myself, not too heavy which is nice. We have a tight space and not a lot of extra room, but were really missing an extra freezer. It fits in the corner of our dining room and doesn't take up a big footprint, given that the space inside is great. More room than I expected and does the trick for what my family needs. Price can't be beat either, significantly cheaper than similar alternatives. Nice that you can switch the side the door is on too.

Have owned the 7cu upright freezer for almost a month now and we are totally happy with our purchase. It was a little bigger than we expected but that was a good thing. We only needed something small for 2 people. It's quiet while running, comes with glass shelves and a great seal. Just wish the top and bottom shelves were combined into one shelf then could be considered another whole shelf instead of 2 half shelves. All in all a great freezer for a good price!

We were looking for a smaller upright freezer and chose this one based on reviews and the fact that it is garage ready, although we are not using it in our garage at this time. Frigidaire had a similar model at a lower price from a competitor but the reviews on that one were horrible. This insignia freezer has been great for us and I love how easy it is to organize and find exactly what we want quickly with the multiple shelves with a chest freezer. It is harder to organize and you often have to dig to find what you are looking for. This freezer works well and does not take up a lot of space so it would be great for multiple applications.

During COVID-19 smaller freezers are hard to find. We needed a small freezer for the space we have and this 7 cu ft is working out great. Pros: Holds at -14* on the mid setting For the time we have had it, it works great for the price paid. Size Cons: There is no light indicator on the outside to show that it is on. These is no light inside Glass shelves - I prefer wire shelving in an upright freezer

Overall, it's been good so far. It's the second one delivered. The first one I got came with 2 left hinges so I couldn't change the direction the door opened. No one had a right hinge. Best Buy couldn't find one, nor the delivery company. I called Insignia directly who said "We don't carry any part for freezers or refrigerators under 18 cubic Feet." So, over a small cheap piece of stamped metal I had to get a completely new freezer delivered. The new freezer came with left and right hinges as it should, and I was able to swap the door opening side with no issues. I did a quick plug into make sure the motor would start, and then per the directions, wait the specified time before plugging it, at least 30 minutes. Also wait for it to cool to the proper temperature inside after starting. For the first 2 days it had a slight gurgling sound listed as normal in the manual, but it's gone now and very quiet. Also, make sure it's level so the door closes and seals properly. Both freezers I received had small blemishes, but nothing big or noticeable unless you're really looking. For the same footprint of a smaller ~5 cu ft freezer you get 7cu ft with this one, as it's just taller. Like most freezers this size it is manual defrost. The temperature control dial is on the inside of the freezer. One of the shelves is adjustable to another preset height. Plenty of room to hold extra items from the regular fridge/freezer. Overall a good freezer, but based upon what Insignia said on parts, there is no repair of this unit, just a replacement. So, make sure you have all the parts and it at least turns on before the delivery people leave.

This freezer is great if you are pressed for space to put a chest freezer or refrigerator-sized freezer. There is an area at the top to store several large, square ice packs. We didn't reconfigure the shelves as they were installed and were able to fit a 14 lb turkey. The size and price are just right if your refrigerator's freezer is tight on space.

When I plugged the freezer in I didn't have enough to fill it right away. I added quite a few containers of cold water so that the freezer would have some insulation and wouldn't be running constantly. I plugged it in on a Friday morning and it took until Saturday night to get to 20 degrees. I was concerned that I had gotten a defective unit, but on Sunday morning I woke up to it being -15 degrees. At that point, I adjusted the temperature setting and it has been at a very steady 0 degrees since then. This freezer is fantastic, extremely quiet, and it is just the right size to pair with my refrigerator's annoyingly small freezer. Plus, it is wide enough to accommodate almost anything I need it to. I would recommend a thermometer be placed in the freezer so that it can me monitored. I have a digital unit with a temperature alarm that is inside my house, coupled with the sensor inside this freezer. It's a great setup and gives me piece of mind. I really hope this lasts because it was less than half the price of any branded counterpart of this size...if it does last, then it's the best value out there!

i was surprised to find this in stock during the shelter-in-place during the pandemic and jumped at the purchase. we are always out of space with our main side-by-side freezer so this gave us more breathing room to store extra meat and alleviate having our kitchen freezer filled up tight* it has a nice small footprint which makes it ideal for the garage and not eating up too much space. setting the cooling knob at just beyond half way yields about -2 to -3 oF on the bottom shelves of the freezer and 0 to 1 oF on the upper shelves. for the price, i can't complain. its also relatively quiet, although that's not a priority for us because it is in the garage. only real complaint is i think i might have preferred wire shelves with a small "catch"/lip at the front. frozen items are slick/slippery and hard to stack so they tend to want to slide out. i'm a little concerned about the glass shelves breaking in time. i think wired catch baskets would be most ideal. * which, due to a bad design by GE, means that our kitchen freezer often times the water line to the water dispenser freezes up when the freezer is overpacked.

Upright configuration, rated for garage use

I've been using this upright freezer for two weeks, so cannot comment on longer term durability. Initial performance is great! This is a nice size for spare food for two people, and the upright configuration is more convenient, though more expensive, than chest freezers with easier access to food and better ability to see what you have in storage. It was well packaged and was not damaged when unpacked. This was loaded into my SUV on its side, which is fine to do, but you then need to let it sit upright for at least 24hours before starting it up. It does not have a built in thermometer so I purchased one. Started at the middle temp setting and it cooled quickly and nicely. Backed down to a lower temp on the dial and it is holding steady in the appropriate temp. I have this in the garage (no climate control) and like that it is rated to withstand typical seasonal temps for my geographic area. Time will tell if it continues to perform as stated it should, but so far I am pleased.

Good product, good price. Happy with it so far, clean and simple. Upon unpacking noticed damage, dent in top. Called Best Buy. I was given two options: $70 gift card to BB, to be mailed in a couple days, or product replacement. I chose the gift card. After two weeks, NO gift card. Call BB again, was told product replacement or $12 gift card. What's up BB? You have the recording of my first phone call with this verbal agreement, now you will not honor it. Why buy from Best Buy again? Not the Best for sure. After two weeks, no gift card

Great little upright freezer. Delivered on time and set up. Slight dimple in the front door but not an issue for us since it was put in the garage. Been working fine with very little frost developing. Great price for a compact upright freezer. The shelving issue complained about by many reviewers is definitely there. For some reason the backs of the shelves fit fine, but the front is a bit narrow and could miss the side support bar if not centered. Not a problem for us. A little double sided tape or duct tape would solve the problem. Just make sure the shelves are centered. Worth trying the freezer considering the price.
