||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is about the 3rd Amplified flat indoor antenna I’ve purchased for different tv’s. All came from different stores. All lose signal strength at some point depending on weather conditions, placement, etc. Give me the old “rabbit ears”and some aluminum foil!

A very inexpensive way to get free TV
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Cable and Satellite prices have skyrocketed the last few years, causing people to “cut the cable” to save money. One way to do this is to use an over-the-air antenna to get your local channels and a few others, for free. The Insignia Ultra-thin indoor antenna is such a device that’s easy to install, and a good way to get free TV channels with little effort. The Insignia antenna is very thin – only a little thicker than copy paper. It’s not large physically, at just under 12 inches in height and just over 8 inches in width. You can hand it on a wall with something as simple as tape (included) or small pins (also included), as there are two small holes in each upper corner. There is also a table stand included you can slide it into, if you want to sit it on a flat surface, so placement is versatile. It’s Black on one side and White on the other, to better match wall or room colors. Installation is simple. With the included cable, you screw it into the “cable/antenna” port on the back of your TV, with the other side attached to the antenna. Important: You need to go into the menu of your TV and find where the antenna settings are, and allow the TV to scan for signals so it can save the stations it can pick up with the antenna. An A/C powered booster is included which helps boost the signal up to 60 miles, but this will vary depending on where you live, geography in the area, how close you are to broadcast towers, etc. The booster has a USB-A plug on it, so with some TVs you can plug it directly into your TV’s USB port and it will power the booster, but it also comes with an A/C plug you can plug it into and just plug it into an outlet. You may also need to move the antenna around a few times to find the best reception and most stations, and it’s best to re-do the channel scan on the TV menu each time you move it. Once you get it settled into the best position, you’re done with the fiddling and can enjoy it. On my TV in the living room, after a couple of placement choices, I was able to pick up around 65 channels. These include all of my local stations (in Atlanta), as well as a good number of specialty channels. Many of these include channels that offer free older movies and TV shows, Spanish speaking channels, Religious-themed channels, and channels devoted to specific TV series (mostly older). In my area, most of these channels come in very clear, as the Insignia picks up 1080p and higher broadcasts (where available) and many newer smart TVs will even try to upscale the channels to a higher resolution if it’s able. Some of my local channels are actually clearer than they were on satellite! If a channel is weak, you may get some digital “garble”, and if replacement of the antenna doesn’t work, you can search for filters online that you put in-between the TV port and antenna cable that help filter out interference. There are also “antenna DVRs” out there that allow you to plug your antenna in that allow you to record TV shows from the antenna. So, I can say that the Insignia Ultra-Thin antenna is a very good deal. It’s very inexpensive, easy to put in, and allows you to save a lot of money. Pair it with one or two of your favorite streaming services, and you can save money over the HUGE cable/satellite bills. Thumbs UP!

Very disappointed
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The antenna is super finicky- I believe it’s the cord that kept cutting out and not the placement of the antenna. Very disappointing.

Posted .Hi, thank you for sharing your experience. We're really sorry to hear the antenna didn’t meet expectations—especially if the cord was the issue. Your feedback is important and helps us improve. We hope you’re able to find a setup that works better for your needs.
