Not much range but I can at least get 1 NBC channel and sometimes a Fox channel. No luck with ABC or CBS but for the price, it was worth it!

Was not at all effective. Didn’t bring in the local channels I wanted. In addition nobody at the store knew about digital converter box, which I needed to use this antenna with an older TV. Unfortunately needed to go to Amazon to buy the converter box.

Seriously, I live in New York and the old insignia plate antenna picked up 60 channels fine. This one however, picks up at best six channels with poor signal quality. But for the most part, we'll pick up zero channels. It's an amazingly bad antenna.

I purchased the Insignia Antenna to cut cable costs, but I have mixed feelings about the. On the positive side, it offers a sleek, ultra-thin design that blends easily into any setup, and the two-sided black-and-white design allows it to match your décor. Setup was straightforward, and the included 10-foot coaxial cable made placement easy. I mounted mine to the wall, but it also comes with a stand if you prefer to place it on your TV stand. The 60-mile range seemed promising for picking up a variety of channels in HD. Initially, I was able to scan and pick up several channels, but the quality was inconsistent. For me, it worked well for local channels in 1080p HD, which was a big plus, especially considering I wasn’t paying for a cable subscription. However, signal reception varied depending on the weather and positioning. The amplified feature does help, but it doesn’t completely eliminate interference, especially if you live in an area with many obstructions like tall buildings or dense foliage. On the downside, I noticed some limitations when trying to pull in more distant channels. The advertised 60-mile range feels optimistic. Depending on your location and signal conditions, the actual range may be significantly shorter. I’m about 40 miles from the nearest broadcast towers, and some weaker channels would cut in and out, especially during bad weather. This is a common issue with many indoor antennas, but it’s still something to keep in mind. If you live close to broadcasting towers and don’t mind repositioning the antenna now and then to get the best signal, the Insignia HDTV antenna is a cost-effective option. It works well for getting local network stations and a handful of other channels. However, if you're far from broadcast stations or looking for more consistent performance, you might need to consider either an outdoor antenna or a different model with stronger reception capabilities. Overall, this antenna provides decent value for someone looking to cut cable and save money, but its performance may vary depending on your environment. If you're okay with occasional tinkering for optimal signal, it’s worth considering for its low cost and simplicity. Otherwise, there might be better alternatives available.

Reception Depends on Positioning & Location

BACKGROUND: I currently own five HDTV’s throughout our 4-bedroom 3-floor home. Four of the TV’s are using U-verse cable boxes, three of those TV’s also have streaming devices, and one TV (in our finished attic) is using a somewhat similar thin indoor amplified antenna. My goal with this Insignia Ultra-Thin Indoor Amplified HDTV Antenna was to use on our 1st floor family room HDTV to augment our cable box, streaming stick, and Blu-Ray player. Being on the first floor, reception with these types of “ultra thin” antennas can be erratic with digital dropouts and/or frozen screens when I used similar antennas. INSTALLATION: Using any type of antenna with current HDTV’s require accessing the TV’s setup, selecting the “Antenna” or “Cable” option, and then preforming a SCAN. (For those reviews where users said this antenna did not work at all, I assume they may not have performed the above require step.) Once the HDTV completed it local channels scanning, it found 58 digital channels (zero analog channels – I don’t believe they exist anymore?). Depending on the antenna placement, I would scan more or less channels. What made a significant difference was positioning/rotating this antenna 90 degrees. Also, the higher up I had it position, then better the reception and the number of channels found. Note that of the 58 digital channels, some I chose to remove due to excessive digital noise or freezing up altogether due to what I assumed were weak signals. BOTTOM LINE: After a fairly quick installation process, both my wife and I are quite impressed with this Insignia branded amplified antenna. We are able to watch around 45+ local channel programming without dropouts or frozen screens. Of the four or five “thin” antennas I have purchased and tried in the past, this one actually works very well. Our foreseeable future goal is to “cut the cable”, and using this amplified antenna is a giant step in that direction. NIT PICS: Ok, I do wish it had a longer cable. My chosen placement is on our fireplace hearth hidden behind a large picture. And a longer cable would allow me to better hide the wiring. Not a big deal, I’ll just end up buying a thin extension cable. RATING: Using in our North Raleigh NC home, this “Insignia Amplified Ultra-Thin Indoor HDTV Antenna w/ 60 Mile Range” earned itself a solid 4-Star Rating. And if you can catch it when it’s on sale, then add another Star!
