My choice was either "not charge my phone " or turn around and go back to the store. It took me an extra hour out of my day to drive back and exchange the charger. The staff was nice about exchanging the charger, I expect I'm purchasing an item that has been tested and works properly.

It was intended for phones with a non-symmetrical plug and in order to use it with my iPhone I'd had to get an iPhone lightining cord and plug that into the auxiallary port on the car charger. Rather than replace the lightning cord when it wore out recently, I decided to buy this charger instead because it has the correctly shaped plug for an iPhone. The difference in quality between the old and the new chargers was clearly visible the minute I unwrapped the new one. Put bluntly, you can tell it's very, very cheaply made. My suspicions proved true as I am constantly having to push it back in to get it to,work. I do not recommend it ... at any price.
