I tried tying the cables together with a simple Alpine Butterfly Bend knot, but it didn't work. Once I purchased this incredible piece of engineering, I was able to use the two cables as one. GENIUS!

It did not affect the performance in a negative way at all, which I was worried about. A bit pricier than I could find online, but I liked the ability to buy it in store.

The pre-run cables in the wall conduit were about 3 feet short. I already had an additional patch cable and with this was able to complete the job. Recommended!
