This boombox has good sound, but I have several problems with it otherwise. When you want to switch from one preset radio station to another, you must cycle through all 10 presets, even if many presets are not set to any radio station. For example, to go from preset #2 to preset #1, you have to press the button nine times! When you're playing a CD, the display doesn't show which track is playing; it only shows the elapsed time of the track. The buttons are annoying difficult to push, and they make an annoying CLICK when they're depressed and again when they're released. The CD lid doesn't seem to operate properly -- it pops open only a fraction of an inch, and it's difficult to pry it fully open. Finally, the radio antenna is a limp wire, not a telescoping metal antenna.

Thoughr I got a good deal for a boombox but my CD player keeps stopping.

My girlfriend has been using a boombox on her shelf for the last 10 years or so and one of the speakers finally stopped working. This Insignia unit made a nice little replacement for it! She likes the sound quality, it's small enough to sit on her shelf or she can take it outside when she sits on her patio. Only disappointment is that it only plays regular CDs, not CD-R/RWs with MP3s. Her old one didn't either but it would have been a nice option. However, the unit DOES have an aux-in port so she can hook her iPod to it with a small patch cable. Overall very pleased!

I like to sing into a mic and record myself so the aux plug works great for me.

needs better features for rural users poor reception

All of the other features worked fine! I am sure this is not a typical quality attribute for the recording quality to be bad. Best Buy was were professional when we returned the item.

I purchased this item because I have many read-along books with cassettes. It chewed up my cassette after one week. I thought, well...at least I can use the CD player, only to discover that it too was broken. Worst purchase ever!!!

Should be removed from stores. Cassette door sticks and the player destroys tapes. Below standard for Best Buy.

I gave this as a gift and the person said they get nothing but static on the radio

The speaker system sounds great. The CD and cassette player work great, definitely worth the money

This equipment is very useful. I like this items because it has for listening CDs, Cassettes, and radio. It is wonderful to get this equipment. the color and the size is very comfortable. I have it next to my night table.

I acquired this from my brother. I had a Sony which I didn't like at all. The Insignia is perfect! Easier to use and sounds a lot better. I'm so glad I own the Insignia now.

Does not have all the bells and whistles of the larger system, but for the $$ is worth it. Would recommend a bigger system if you are looking for better quality sound

Every feature of this boombox functions properly so far. I am very satisfied with it. I mainly wanted it for the tape player/recorder since those can be hard to find these days. It seems to play and record without any issues. The speakers on the boombox have as much volume as you'll ever need, but they do sound a bit muffled. You can plug other speakers into it, though, if you care that much. All in all, I'd say this is a decent boombox.

I wanted a decent cassette player. The CD plays fine. The cassette is just as bad as every other cassette player I have ever had or still have at this time. It plays fine for a while, then, as if on cue, everything slows down to an irritating crawl. What is the problem with making something work that has to be one of the most simple things a machine can be made to do? Thinking of returning this machine.

This product is one of very few that still includes a cassette player for playing those old tapes. The sound is reasonably good. While the construction seems a bit on the cheap side, the unit seems to be holding up better than some others that looked more substantial.

My mom loves this . She is on her second one. It had a good run . Loved it so much she got the same one

The description and several reviews mentioned Batteries Included... but no batteries. NOTHING worked, except the Cassette tape. No radio or CD, NO Batteries. I have exchanged for another one, tried in store; radio, CD and Cassette appeared to work. Still NO batteries included (as promised in description). Time will tell how long this thing lasts :(
