The overall sound was clean and clear...but NO bass! The buttons were plastic and hard to press and get to work.

    Did not last 3 months

I bought this unit to replace a similar one that bit the dust after a good 10 years. I wanted a unit that played CDs and cassettes (radio is something I don't use that often, but it came with the package). It was ok, but the buttons were awkward to press, and the display did not show what track you were on if playing a CD--only the time elapsed, which is a pain if you're listening to an audio book and have to stop mid-CD. This is about 80% of what I use it for. Not perfect, but OK. Until it decided not to recognize that it had a CD in it any more. One day, I was playing CDs just fine, went to lunch, came back, started the next CD and got the No CD display. Tried the CD I was playing before I went to lunch--same thing. I've attempted several times since then with no luck. I've had it for maybe 2 or 3 months. Sure wish I had kept the original box and receipt.

Cassette player makes a clicking noise

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Radio and CD player works fine, but I purchased this boombox so I could lessen to my numerous cassettes. If the boombox is on a level surface, it makes a bothersome clicking noise. However if I hold the boombox at a 45 degree angle the clicking sounds goes away. Therefore I'm returning the player to Best Buy today.

An OK basic unit, but I can do better so I'm returning it. Sound is alright, but not sharp. Antenna is just a wire hanging off the back. Control buttons are pictographs that are unintuitive. It was on sale so I thought it was worth a gamble. So it goes.

You get what you pay for

I bought this boombox on sale for $30. I wanted to use it to transfer my cassettes into digital recordings which is not what this claims to do using the headphone audio output and a PC that can be accomplished. The build quality of this thing is pretty poor; very plasticy and cheap but that can be forgiven for a $30 boombox. The problem was the sound quality when playing a cassette was pretty poor: in fact I took out the cassette and I played it with no cassette in there and there was considerable noise coming out of the speakers so I returned it and I'm probably going to pay around $60 for a brand cassette boombox.

I needed a new one since my last RCA boombox's cd player stopped working after a couple months. It is sleek and better than my last!

worked okay for a few months but broke

The speakers on this boombox aren't that great, which is a bummer. I bought it to listen to and record on cassettes. It can record, but the recording often sounded slightly distorted. During playback, the tape would often fall off of the header after pressing stop or rewind a couple times, which was very annoying. Unfortunately, after about 6 months of relatively light use, the cassette door got jammed shut while there was a tape in it, and I had to pry it open, breaking it in the process.

    Poor cassette sound quality

Purchased this boombox for our tape cassette collection. The CD plays OK, however the music sounds like it's coming from a cave. The cassette player makes the tapes sound warped - both older and newer tapes. Very disappointed. I'm sorry I bought this, will return, but haven't found another tape cassette player with good reviews.

The sound is okay but the selection buttons are really hard to push, making it frustrating so it just sits. We should have returned but my daughter bought it as a nice gesture...

Wrecks cassette tapes and doesn't work

(I only gave this one star because Best Buy won't let me give this boombox no stars.) This JUNK only works for a week then, it wrecks cassette tapes to the point of no return and doesn't play sound after a few months (Doesn't play sound with CDs, cassettes, and the radio.) Don't buy unless you want your stuff wrecked.

CD player never worked. It sounded like it was trying to spin but could not. Past the 14 days so couldn't get a refund, but I am happy with the store credit. Boombox is garbage but Best Buy Customer Service was great.

    Good for the first day

I ordered this player and it came well packaged and was not damaged at all. It worked great at first, but after a day or two, when we put a CD into the player, the display would say that there is no CD. We'd try again, but it always said the same thing and wouldn't play the CD. The CD didn't even spin or anything. We only played CDs in it and never used the cassette player, so I don't know how the cassette player works. I was disappointed and we are returning the player.

      Hi Glenn.

I know how disheartening is when a brand new device fails. Just allow me to remind you that there is a 15-day exchange period offered by Best Buy as a store. Please, bring this to the attention of your nearest store for further orientation on how to apply it.
