Older Monitors Need Active Not Passive Adapters

The adapter I needed was an active not passive. This is a passive adapter. If you are using this for older monitors, it would be in your best interest to purchase active adapters to avoid these types of headaches.

The HDMI to DP cable I bought failed and this adapter with a new HDMI cable also did not work. Bought cable from Staples and it worked without issue. Insignia brand needs to step up if that’s all they’ll carry.

Then one of them worked for a couple of minutes, after that they not working at all. Tried to return them but the return period was just finished.

Stopped working very quickly

I did some troubleshooting and confirmed the issue is indeed with this adapter. I have it in the correct configuration (DP computer to HDMI monitor). Will be returning.

The laptop would not detect the adapter no matter what display settings I used. I replaced it with an HP DisplayPort-to-HDMI Adapter which worked right out of the box.
