I bought a ViewSonic VG1655 portable monitor I will be using mostly as a second monitor attached to my tower PC. However, my PC's graphics card only has DisplayPorts and the VG1655 only came with a USB-C to USB-C and mini-HDMI to HDMI cables. I called ViewSonic tech support and they recommended an adapter and we discussed several options on Amazon.com. Well, Amazon uses the Post Office to deliver a lot of their items and the P.O. is currently very horrible in timely deliveries so I decide to check out the local Best Buy. Easy peasy curb-side pick up process (thanks Best Buy), but the very best part is the instantaneous connection on my tower PC — literally after snapping on the adapter and plugging the ViewSonic to a power, the Windows 10 extended screen showed up on it immediately. I didn't have to do anything. This Insignia adapter cost a lot more (~$25) than another brand's that look just like it (~$10), but I saw the Insignia's reviews and was persuaded. I have no regrets based on my experience of how good everything worked out. Recommend.

I looked around the internet for this type of product and the more I more I looked, the more nervous I got after reading the reviews. So here is the deal, I bought it because it was a Insignia product. I know if there is something wrong with the adapter Best Buy will stand by the product and take it back or recommend another device they sell. Real simple.

This is a simple little solution to hooking up a computer that only has a DisplayPort video output to a monitor that only has an HDMI input. I don't know why computer manufacturers do that, forcing us to buy another cable (or in this case, an adapter). This will allow you to use an existing HDMI cable and is a bit less expensive than the full DisplayPort-to-HDMI cable.

The sales man told me I needed this piece to hook up my oculus rift s headset and he was right. If he didn’t know what he was doing I would have got home and found out that I would have to make another trip to the next town again to get my headset connected to my computer , thanks man for knowing what you are doing .

Wish I didn't have to carry around all kinds of adapters to power and connect my devices ,,. but at least some of the products, like this one, are easy and reasonably priced. From what I can tell, this effectively adds HDMI access for my new HP laptop when plugged into my DisplyPort, and then into a HDMI cable connected to a TV or projector. Sound comes through fine, too.

Simple to use. Does the job. Second one I've bought recently, for my customers whose laptops didn't support HDMI. Works well.

My monitor is an HP 27es (awesome monitor). This uses HDMI only. My issue was I had only one HDMI port, and that was being used by my Oculus Rift. This little doohickey was just what I needed. It's digital, so the screen is in perfect clarity. I already had an hdmi cable, so it's cheaper than buying an all-in-one DisplayPort to HDMI cable. The adapter has no negative side effects.

This pig-tailed version of the adapter work perfectly, doesn't require you to carry around messy long cords and is very economical.

I bought a computer display port connector to connect my computer to an HDMI port on the TV. I thought I would never find it. It had a connector with a short wire between the computer port connector and the HDMI connector. This was not nearly as convenient as one I had bought before which just had computer connector on one side and an HDMI connector on the other end without any wire. It works fine, but it cost just as much as one with a much longer wire and was just as expensive as an HDMI cable.
