    Great Tablet, Bad Cameras

The tablet has some hiccups but overall, its okay. The cameras are not of good quality at all. Everything is grainy beyond repair. The apps are great and storage that it comes with is more than enough room. Video quality is awesome. I watch movies, etc on this tablet.

    INCREDIBLE VALUE!

I picked up the Insignia Flex 8 up at Best Buy the other day and I'm in love with it. Just to get this out of the way, yea it's a little slow. You'll find yourself waiting for things to happen a little bit. You can't expect $500 performance out of a $100 tablet. It's not going to blow you away. BUT it has a beautiful 8 inch IPS 1280x800 screen (with zero light bleed!), good color reproduction, INCREDIBLE viewing angles, etc. It just gets the job done for $100. The touch screen is as accurate as can be. PERFECT for media consumption, web, email, and light gaming. The battery is good, too. 6-7 hours on screen time for my usage. It runs vanilla Android 5.0 Lollipop, which is awesome and, in spite of being plastic, it feels quality. The faux brushed aluminum back, which is also plastic, gives it a quality look as well. I also love that it's white as opposed to black on the bezels. It just makes the screen feel bigger. It's solid. It's worth it! I'm not usually one to give reviews but this tablet deserved it. PROS - Incredible screen, especially for the price - Solid battery Life - Responsive touch experience - Looks and feels quality, doesn't seem cheap like other budget tablets. - Only $100 CONS - A little slow (but it's to be expected in this price range) - Speakers could be better. No biggie.

My wife's Kindle had started to play up and I had not been impressed by it's performance. I thought a small Android tablet would suit her needs and this tablet seemed to fit the bill. It has the latest operating system, a good screen resolution, quad core processor, good on board memory and this can be expanded. From the box it is simple to set up and what I love about Android and Google is everything gets set up for you. There were plenty of updates to existing apps and then she was up and running. The screen response is good, the processor is okay (not fast but adequate). It plays videos and the sound is okay. Battery life seems reasonable. For the price I think this tablet takes some beating.

    Great Value Buy

I think this is a fantastic device, especially for the cost. It runs smoothly, displays video well, and has adequate speakers for streaming video or music. My only hang up with the device is that I had it two days and was extremely careful in my use, as I am with all of my devices. I had the device on standby and realized the screen was heavily scratched. I hadn't gotten it close to anything abrasive and only had it inside a padded tablet/laptop sleeve. The screen is very sensitive to scratching, but the device as a whole is a fantastic find that runs very well.

This tablets actually has the same processor as the Asus memo pad and it identical in size. So far as performance its also identical to much more expensive tablets. Insignia is awesome. There's much less overhead for the company being that its a Best Buy exclusive.\Bottom line....GREAT BANG FOR THE BUCK!

I bought 3 of these for my kids. I thought they would be great tablets for them to Youtube and play games. I've had to exchange all three of them twice. We've had battery issues and charging port issues. One of them we've had on the charger and it looks like its charging but the battery percent never changes. I had high hopes for these tablets.

I dislike the color scheme but the tablet does work well. In the end it's the apps that make the tablet and incur the greatest of costs because you usually end up buying them to remove the ads. I have My Clock, Weather & Clock Widget, various games I've bought like Comet Racer, AVG Antivirus, etc. I am unsure the display is covered in glass or if it is some polycarbonate-like material, it's hard to tell. I bought a plastic cover for the display to protect it better. Questions I have are will it last? Will I experience the usb port breaking like others have, will I experience the battery refusing to charge like others have? or will it infact work for a year or more with no problems. Guess we'll find out

Great for 6 months, then it died

After my dog destroyed two expensive tablets, I wanted an affordable replacement that meet my needs. After reading a lot of reviews and following recommendations from Insignia tablet owning relatives, I bought this tablet. It started out great. Fast operation/response, very good screen quality, good sound, did everything I wanted it to. I was thrilled. For the first six months. Two days ago, pixels started flashing randomly on the screen, the next morning the tablet was completely dead. Won't boot, won't charge, nada. I did get a replacement from Best Buy but upgraded to a more expensive name brand that I know will last longer...unless my dog turns out into a chew toy.

The tablet overall is a good buy. However some improvements could be made. The camera on this tablet reminds me of the camera on a 2003 flip phone. It's dark and blurry. The speakers could also be louder. Takes a couple hours to fully charge.

Ok, it's not as good as my iPad Air, but it's pretty good for the price. I have played all kinds of games, read email, and surfed the net. It isn't as fast as my iPad but it's fast enough. I got this tablet for 79$ and I couldn't be more pleased. I wanted something good to put in my purse that if it got stolen or lost or scratched wouldn't be hard to replace. This fits the bill. I really like it a lot.

On Thursday, August 27, I went into Best Buy to take a look at new laptops to replace my old, failing HP. I didn't like anything I saw, but had also been contemplating adding a tablet to the family, so I went to check those out. The Insignia Flex 8 was on sale and looked like it might work. I pulled up reviews on that one and the Trio Stealth G5 and decided either could potentially work. After a very long time of waiting for someone working there to help me, I finally went to the Customer Service desk and had a guy there come and answer my questions and then open the case and hand me my selection for purchase. When got it home and charged it, it was actually very easy to set up and use, and I had a lot of fun playing with it over the weekend, learning its features and checking emails, Facebook, internet, etc. And then Monday morning (Aug. 31), I took it off the charger and turned it on. It came on, but was completely unresponsive in the touchscreen. After trying every trick I could figure out -- turn on/off, repeat, try again, turn it to different directions, plug it in again, unplug, try again -- I called the manufacturer's help line as there are no troubleshooting tips provided in the item's packaging or documentation. I was told that the touchscreen drivers must have gone away, so to take it back to Best Buy and return it. The end. So, I will be going back to Best Buy this evening and returning the item I bought 4 days ago, and used for 3 before it became non-functioning. I may replace it with another Insignia in the hopes that this one was just a dud, or try a different tablet -- won't know until I get there and see what's available this week. Shame -- because I was considering buying a second tablet to give to my elderly parents as it was so incredibly easy to use and figure out. I don't think I'll risk that now. So it was great while it lasted -- but 3 days of gentle use before it malfunctions is kind of ridiculous! Do better Insignia. Do much, much better! I think I'd have given you a 4 rating otherwise, if the length of life was worthwhile.

Bleh. Better tablets at this price point.

The basic specifications of this tablet look good on paper (or screen). 1280x800, 1GB RAM, and this general CPU performance are all about as much as you can expect here. It boots up to Android 5.0 (Lollipop). A a few minutes, though, you realize that you bought a genuinely cheap tablet. The screen lacks an oleophobic (oil-resistant, from your fingertips) coating, so there's an unpleasant sense of "drag" as you work your fingers on the display. There are 1280x800 pixels there, but the panel is nowhere near as nice as what LG, Acer, and Lenovo are putting on their budget models. (More on this later.) It looks gritty somehow. The processor measures out to be on par with a 2012 Nexus 7. This won't give it much of a future, considering that each Android release seems to want a little bit more. Plants vs. Zombies won't launch. Even after a reboot. Eesh. I didn't know I'd be calling the GeekSquad to get a game working. The bezel is huge. It's a 7" tablet in an 8" tablet housing. It's that much bigger. Then there's the very rough, very sharp edge where the bezel meets the case sides. You can feel the sharp edge of the back of the case, and it makes it very uncomfortable to hold in your hand for any period of time. Really, at this price point, you can't expect miracles, but the LG G Pad 7.0 has the same size but higher quality display in a much nicer, smaller form factor. You can find them new and refurbished for within $15 of this Insignia tablet's sale price. Likewise, the Acer Iconia 8 and one or two of the inexpensive Lenovo models. (Just watch out for crummy 1024x600 displays.) There's no way I can really recommend a no-name tablet -- a rebranded Tianshi Digi-Land model -- with this level of mediocrity when so many better options are available for so little additional cash.
