Great Value

Once it is up & running it is a great tablet, if using outside look for an anti-glace screen protector. Sound is decent, screen is very good. Operating system is way better than 4.4. Only draw back is it takes for ever to start up. 5.x operating system seems to have a hiccup in the wi-fi connection, sometimes full strength then no connection. My first one would never connect, my second one is pretty stable but it does drop from time to time for no reason. hopefully they will fix that issue soon. But for the price vs features it is great deal.

based on the price paid, this tablet was not that bad. A down side to it is better image quality isn't always supported by the tablet when watch a video. Has the apps that I use, small, portable, and convenient. I initially wanted the 10'1 inch tablet, but operator ordered the wrong one, but the 8 inch one isn't too bad. Overall, good product.

This is a great laptop for the price. Buy no means it is the quality of an ipad or samsung, but screen is bright enough, movies play great, game load great and can use it like any other tablet but about 100 dollars cheaper. The only issue is the battery is not very good. Will not get more that 2 days of even stand by time and probably 4-5 hours of use.

We had the previous model and it was a good one so we got this one for our 6 year old. It works well. Not as fast as the more expensive name brands but for the price...it's great! Couldn't justify spending more than double for a child and this one does everything they need & more!

I purchased this tablet about 5 months ago and I am still amazed at the value I got for the purchase price. The screen is sharp & clear with excellent color. The battery lasts for a long time and recharges quickly.
I originally purchased it to use mainly as an e-reader for my Nook books but have found it works great for surfing the web, email and accessing & editing documents in the cloud.
When watching "how to" videos on You Tube I use this instead of my laptop before the video display is so much clearer.

I purchased this tablet because I was looking for a replacement for my old ASUS. I specifically wanted something with an good screen with relatively high dimensions with reasonably high DPI for reading and video with reasonable battery life. I bought, and returned, an Insignia Flex Elite after discovering that it's touted 6 hours battery life was sorely overestimated. I've read reviews saying that this tablet; however, was underestimated and that the screen (while not as good as the Elite) was still quite good and crisp. So, I figured for $80 it was worth trying.....boy am I surprised:
Pros:
Excellent sharp screen, perfect for eBooks, videos and even comic books.
Comfortable to hold
Very responsive
Surprising battery life (2 days so far on the same charge and only now at 40% reading, email, web searching and occasional music).
Cons:
Slightly thicker than I expected
Glass is not scratch resistant and BestBuy doesn't sell screen protectors for this device (had to order some from a 3rd party).
Sound is a bit "tinny", but can be quite loud and clear (really needs a sound mixer)
Would I buy this....darn right I would. I've owned numerous tablets and phones over the years and so far this is one of the best. It may not be a high-end tablet, but, so far it is worth every bit of the $80 dollars I spent on it. I'm very surprised and very happy with it.

A good tablet for every day use. I especially like the ease of use of the software. However I have music that I have on my SD card that this tablet will not play in WMA format. I have tried a couple of free programs but Google keeps wanting me to give my credit card info...not going to happen trust me. Any idea's around this?

Return policy is 14 days. While out of town 13th & 14th day it wouldn't charge. Went to Best Buy 15th day and one guy told someone else to replace it. She plugged it in and it started charging. I explained I had tried three different chargers at home and none would charge it. One of those chargers I use on a daily basis. She tried another charger and it worked. She wouldn't replace the tablet since the issue couldn't be replicated. They did give me a $30 charger and cord, which was nice, but it's the only charger that works. The other issue is Facebook works very, very slowly when I first log in. Then it gets stuck and won't go to any other pages and then usually gives a message that FB isn't responding, do I want to wait or close it? I love the size at 8" but with the other issues I can't rank it more than a 3. I also would probably never go to Best Buy again for a tablet again.

Hi, we're happy to know that the tablet is working fine again and that best buy helped you to solve this situation. Nonetheless, please remember that if your tablet keeps malfunctioning, it is certainly covered under the one year manufacturer's warranty it comes with. To validate it, you can take it to the Best Buy - Geek Squad counter with your receipt of purchase and they will take care of it. Daniel T. - Insignia Support

I bought this tablet to use for college, great for carrying around. The mobile versions of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint run well. I have quite a bit of media and games on it as well, music quality and bluetooth connectivity are great and the games run smoothly. There are certain features I was disappointed about (display and sound profile settings are a bit lacking), but for the price I paid it is a fun and easy product. Great for beginners.

Very nice product. Well worth the money. Bought a Samsung Galaxy wi-fi tablet for $238 and I am returning it. Believe it or not but the display on this one is better. Of course the camera isn't very good, but I didn't buy it for that. I just bought another Insignia tablet that is 10 inch. I just hope it is as good as this one. For a simple easy to use tablet you can't go wrong with this one. Hope this review helps.

Third Time Is The Charm?

I am now on my third tablet. The first two had to be exchanged when they stopped turning on. I'm hoping that this third one will be the best one yet. This isn't very expensive, so if it breaks again I won't be disappointed. It's fast enough and does the job - I purchased it for a parent to use while going to chemotherapy appointments.

I really love this tablet. It does pretty much everything flawlessly. I especially like the $60 price tag. The only concern I have is with the micro USB jack. They have a tendency to wear our quickly. I have had it for over a month and it seems to be getting loose already. The plug is constantly falling out. A mini USB would have been a better choice. Overall I am happy with my purchase.

I purchased this to use as a controller for my streaming audio system. My expectations were not very high given the price point but so far I've been impressed with the quality and ease of setup. Functionality is excellent and it's much faster than I expected.
So far, I give this a high recommendation.

Bought the Insignia™ - Flex - 8 - 16GB and the case for our child as an upgrade to the Fire Kid's 7" unit which we bought for Christmas to replace a cracked Kindle Fire 7" from a face-plant. Soon learned that the Kid-Fire did not allow MindCraft, so traded-in within a week for the Insignia as was in-stock, and Best-Buy personnel were super helpful to assist me with finding an in-stock item and case then and there.
I was impressed with the comparable price ($99# and the features, and our daughter loved it. The Android operating system was very user friendly, and the case was fine #although did not have a built-in stand# and the image was clear, all great! But then we had to keep the unit connected to the charger, and the unit would blank out, or would lock up. We tried giving it deep recharges such as overnight, or during school, but again would not operate but less than an hour on the battery. We noticed that the pin end does not fit tightly into the Insignia and seems to sag out of it. Investigating can find the culprit- the cord about 3" below the pin has a cylinder shape that pulls down on the pin making it sag out of the tablet. I placed the unit on its back and made sure that the pin was secure, and opened the battery view #nice feature! shows battery & usage history graphically as well as projected recharge rate (slope# and date/time# and was at 28% and charging. Came back 1/2hr later and was at 35% #had to wake up the unit so was not as if the screen or apps were running it down) so at this rate of 14%/hr would take 7 hours to recharge from 0% to 100%. Looking at the graphic usage, the battery had lasted apprx 2hrs. We had expected at least 4hrs and really 6hrs. So between the charging time, the battery time, the loose connections, the sagging heavy cord, the concern about the connector breaking, and looking in-depth at reviews that showed charging issues even with replacement units I decided yesterday to replace at Best Buy with a higher-rated unit. Have researched the review comments for a multitude of tablets #and availability) such as Samsong, Dragon, and upgraded to the Fire HD 8" which has all the features and a tight fitting pin connection and no cylinder in the cord to weigh it down, so Fire cost $149+$39case vice Insignia $99+$24case.

Annoying to use

This tablet is annoying to use you can't move apps to an sd card, its a three step process to read emails, push notifications don't work at all and the keyboard typing sound is very loud with no way adjusting the volume. I'm giving two stars based on how fast it runs apps and how good the screen is. I will be returning it at the first chance I get.

Bought this tablet for my 9 year old to have something "tech" to open for Christmas when his older siblings received more expensive gifts. Worked well, good sound, good picture. Perfect for him. I was pleased. HOWEVER, as other reviews said, there are charging issues. He was very careful with the tablet, but within four months the tablet would not charge. I believe the tech said some of the charging prongs broke. It was replaced under the 1 year warranty. But, three months later our second tablet is showing the same signs as the first. This would be perfect if they could improve the charging issue.
