A decent tablet at first

We bought 2 of these tablets back in August for my Husband and my teen daughter to use. They worked good at first, they take awhile to turn on once you hit the power button. We returned them both yesterday because the charging port stopped working on both of them. Luckily they were still under warranty. Next time we'll go with a better brand.

Before I bought 4 of these tablets for my grandkids for Christmas 2015, I read a couple reviews about charging issues. Writing that off to user or device specific scenarios, I went ahead and bought them. By February I started hearing rumblings of USB cable and charging problems. By April 2016 they were all pretty much unusable. They all would randomly drop WiFi, some had bad battery life and all of them had charging problems. So, I'm giving the devices themselves a poor review.
In July, we returned them all for a store credit, which the people at Best Buy made much easier than I expected because I didn't get an extended warranty. While the devices were not great, the people and policies at Best Buy deserve a very good rating. Hope this helps any prospective buyers.

Wifi scanning stopped working

Bought this due to price at local Best Buy store on 6/30/16. I didn't have a problem with it holding a charge, as some reported. But after about a month, wifi would not access any networks. Tried to reset my modem, even tho others tablets in the house were working. No success. I took to another location that had wifi, still nothing. Best Buy only had a 15 day return policy and I was past this, but they did issue me an in-store credit, as this is a known problem with this model tablet. Geek squad member verified that is would not scan for wifi networks. One year manufacturer warranty was in effect. Now I am back to squAre one in looking for a tablet. But Best Buy did their best to make it right.

Bought 7/2015 for my sisters birthday. By 10/2015 it quit charging and wouldn't come on. Took it back to the store & they tried to talk me into a more expensive tablet. Decided to just trade for the same brand. Took that one home and it woudnt come on. Charged for a hour & still nothing, took that one back & they swapped it out again. Less than one month later it stopped working right in the middle of playing with it. Took it back & they tried selling me a new tablet. Decided to go with their recommendation of a Kindle Fire, only to be told that they didn't have any more in stock & I woud have to drive 40 miles to go get one from another store. Was told on 2 occasions that it was because of the "Brand" Insignia is Best Buys Brand. HUMMMMM

Use and dispose of tablet

Was looking for an inexpensive tablet to use for business, but this one was to cheap even for that. The screen started to pull away from the tablet as i attempted to remove the protective film. The port for the charger had issues as I kept noticing the tablet wouldn't charge when plugged in. And just in general, it felt very sluggish and unresponsive. At best this could be used as a tablet for kids to watch videos on, but even then, don't expect it to hold up to any type of abuse.

Constant problems with charging port

Great tablet except for the charging port. After about 2 weeks the cord will not stay in the port, it literally falls out. Since December Ive been through 2 tablets and a total of 7 charging cords. I made the mistake of throwing out the original charging cord and they wanted to charge me $15 when I returned the tablet. Also, if its over 15 days they will not refund your money. You get store credit. I am one VERY unsatisfied customer!

This is junk. Don't waste your money. You can't buy protectors for it. Didn't last 90 days before falling apart. Buy a better brand.

I initially had a Google Nexus Gen 2, but it broke over a year ago. So my wife and I thought it would be time to replace it. This tablet is not close to the ability of the Nexus, but it does get the job done.

One of my best investments so far. I have 3 other ios devices, but I found myself using this cheapo Insignia pad frequently.
Be warned however: the battery is terrible - gets low quickly and takes a long time to charge up. Other than that, I use it to compose music for my videos using an app called "Caustic 3".

Read instructions. Plugged in for 6 hours, battery at 40%. Checked it again after 4 more hours. Battery is then "charging and now at 25%". Unplugged, waited, plugged in again for a few more hours..."charging at 25%" and stays there. Returning this Insignia tablet to buy a Samsung.

Worthless Warranty

Bought it in November 2015. After 3 months, the device stopped charging. Bought a new charger and it worked for another 2 months, then won't charge anymore. I thought maybe it was the power cable and not the tablet. Bought another new charging cable. Was able to charge for two days and then stops completely. Took it in because it was still within the one-year warranty. What the Geek Squad guy told me: "The warranty doesn't cover that because you can't prove that the tablet wasn't abused or dropped. I can still send it in for service, but you'll have to pay for it and that will cost more than the value of the tablet. So you'll be better just buying a new one."
Really? Then what's the point of the warranty? Very disappointing. Will never buy another Best Buy brand item again.

It was the good tablet until it stopped charging. Bestbuy refund full amount so 2 Stars is basically for their customer service. I read the reviews before purchased it and saw couple reviews mentioned about the broken USB port. I was thinking they may not take care enough their tablet and want to give it a try. Now mine is also failed no matter how I took the good care of it. It is the faulty design.
