This Elite tablet is not Elite at all!

It is slow to start. The battery life is not good at all, it even drains quickly while sleeping. The speaker has a tinny sound. Netflix does not work on this tablet. After promising an upgrade to fix Netflix at least a month ago in the Insignia forums it has not been done yet. My mistake was waiting for a fix instead of bringing this back.

I love love this tablet. The only problem is the battery only last 4 hours, and like the other reviewer said it does run hot. Even though this is my very first tablet I think it's great.

    Can cause serious network issues

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Summary: When it works, it is a good entry level tablet (adult or child). It's decently powerful and works great for browsing the web, basic games, and everyday use. However it runs an outdated version of Android (non-upgradable at this point in time# that can cause network failure for itself and other wireless devices depending on the wireless configuration. Details: This device was a gift which was picked as it was very easy to use in the store and a great price for a basic tablet. Performance wise, it's not going to replace your desktop or compete with a Surface Pro / Ipad, however it does streaming and basic games with no lag at all. The problem with this device is due to the version of Android #5.0.x) and wireless routers that are running in Mixed 802.11n / 802.11g mode. It will connect to the router, however within a minute or two for me it lost network connectivity as did all other devices in the house. What it appears to happen is that the tablet can't decide whether it wants to be connected as 802.11n or 802.11g, so it goes back and forth between each constantly until it causes the router to stop responding. For more details, search Google for 802.11 mixed mode Android network compatibility issues. The good news is, you can fix this by setting your router to be in just 802.11n or 802.11g. In 802.11g your speed won't be as fast, but legacy devices won't be able to connect. In 802.11n your speed will be really fast, but any legacy devices you have that you were running mixed mode for will not be able to connect. Once the router is not in mixed mode, at least for us works great. When you do a system update, it updates the firmware, but will not update to the newest version of Android 5 and thus does not resolve the issue for mixed mode. Overall I would not recommend this device to a friend. In the right situation it's a great tablet at a great price, however an outdated OS load that causes Mixed Mode routers to crash is just too severe to recommend. I would reconsider this if this was ever fixed by default for new devices. Specifically for me, it was having issue with the Linksys DIR-628 router.

This is an entry level tablet with a much higher grade spec sheet. The rk3288 chip is a solid performer albeit not perfect. The fit and finish is very nice. The display is top notch. If you are used to higher end tablets you will find this tablet satisfying if not thrilling. To criticize this tablet given its price would be unfair.

This is a great tablet if you just want to do simple things with it. Things to know, it won't be updated to the latest Android OS. Don't try to use a SD card with it, nothing except the 'basic' utilities that came with the device recognize it. Other than those issues it's a good piece of hardware. Screen is bright, it's quick and sound is good. Didn't get a chance to check the battery as I didn't run it for any extended amount of time.

Locked up and died after a week

This tablet, which was recommended by a very nice guy at one of your stores, had a nice screen, an expansion slot for a micro SD card, and once it finally updated the software (it failed about a dozen times before going through all by itself) it mostly worked okay. The audio on things had a tendency to stammer, and while that was annoying, it wouldn't have been cause for taking the unity back, but then I got the Black Screen of Death. I had to reset the unit - so back it went.

I have exchanged this product once already and now I guess I have to do it again. I hope I can get a different company's tablet. Updates wouldn't install in both systems. The first time my tablet wouldn't charge (right cord trust me) and now my screen is going crazy. I have been very kind to both tablets and there is a lot of memory left over. Nothing but a waste of money and time.

Great tablet, light weight, fantastic 2k screen, good battery life, plays games well. The only downside to this tablet is that the backlight can't be turned down enough to comfortably watch movies in bed.

Dont You Even Think About Buying This..

Bought this for my mom for christmas. She was so excited to get a new tablet on christmas day but this thing couldnt even make it past the set up screen. I wanted to set it up for her since Ive done tablet setups a million times and when I go to select my preference in language, nothing happens. I tap, I scroll, and nothing happens, just completely unresponsive. I was shocked, new out of the box and already broken. I am fuming with rage, this tablet has single handedly ruined christmas for me. I bought a chromecast too so she could stream her movies and tv shows from the tablet and watch it on her new tv, now that isnt possible. Dont you dare buy this product, I knew it was cheap but common! I didnt even get to browse the web!! 100% worst tablet on the planet earth, A rock would be a better tablet than this junk. Dont buy this, DONT!!!! Just save your self the inevitable hassle and buy the samsung tablet. Learn from my mistake!

I bought this tablet for my son some time before Christmas to give to him on Christmas. I got it out to load all his apps and I noticed that it was coming apart around the charge port. I took it back to the store and the second one did not seem to have this problem. A while later it started coming apart on its own then it stopped charging at all. I think it is a problem with how it is made because the charge port does not seem to be anchored correctly and it tries to come apart at its seam. It also would freeze up all the time while viewing any kind of animation or playing a game and make an electronic buzzing sound.

I bought one for my daughter, she loved it except that the speakers kept cutting out. We returned it & got another - same problem. Finally returned it to buy something else. It has a nice display & seems to perform well but the speaker issue keeps me from recommending it.

If I could go flat 0 I would - worst purchase ever

I purchased this because I wanted to play PokeMon G with my daughter. Thought we could bond a little and it would be fun. I saw it had good reviews, not the best, but good. I used 80 dollars in rewards I had, and it was on sale for 90 so I thought what the heck. 1. It came and is clearly refurbished. There edges are pulled apart, the plug area itself? Completely crushed down. I had to carefully bend it back up just to even get the plug in 2. I charged it as it says 2b. when it was initially plugged in, for the first lets say 10 minutes.. if I picked it up (it was off), and my fingers touched the back... it was like.. vibrating / shocking me. Not like hurting but seriously would follow my finger wherever I touch it (or fingers)... once it was "charged" it stopped doing it - weird 3. After that what a piece of junk. Firstly it will NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT respond the "touch". I can touch it and it will maybe click one thing, and I am JUST trying to set it up. Then go to click another letter on the keyboard, or a "ok, cancel, whatever" button on the screen and nope.. no response AT ALL It's been an HOUR and I can't even get it to let me get through the setup to even get to the main screen / desktop whatever. Complete rubbish. Terrible terrible purchase. There is zero chance this unit was actually tested by anyone, and since it looks clearly beat up, its probably used (otherwise why did they put it in the package and send it seeing it is garbage) I've had such horrible horrible luck ordering from BB online. I have been an elite member forever and I spend thousands and thousands at this store every and this... is the worse purchase even above the monitors I ordered and they both came completely broken.. this is worse Stay away. Now I have to pay to ship them back and or pay to drive my butt to the store which is far away to return them and THEN go through the hassle of waiting on the return of my 80 points. And BB doesn't sell tablets in the store really (not near me) -- so sha yeah..

My husband gave me this for Valentines day and here it is less than 2 months later and its already not working. First off, it was shutting down each time it was on the charger then it would shut down randomly and tell me the battery was dead when in fact it was fully charged. Now its simply not taking a charge AT ALL and shutting down as soon as its turned on. What a disappointment.

First of all, this tablet is VERY light, trim and almost flimsy. Some may like a tablet like that, but I myself want to feel the tablet in my hands. (NOT a heavy tablet, but not THIS light, either) I received this tablet today and sat down about an hour ago to set it up. As I was setting it up, I found out that many of my favorite apps were not compatible, which was VERY disappointing for me. I can't give it much more of a review, because when I found those Apps weren't available, I packed it back up in it's box, and will be returning it in the morning.
