I actually like this tablet ! I bought this for my niece , I love the 32gb , it's pretty fast , I mostly downloaded games and music apps for her and so far no problems at all. It really is a good tablet , I was shocked t could screenshot with this tablet & also add live wallpapers to it . My only complaint would be that the camera is awful , and I'm hoping my niece doesn't mind too much . I expected a better camera so it was a little disappointing, but overall a good tablet and I think for regular web browsing , or gaming it's perfect !

Nice to display but overall underwhelming

I picked this up and tried it out to replace a previous tablet that was just getting old. The display itself is easily the tablet's strongest point. In use though i found it lacking. Specifically, I'm a Google Fiber TV subscriber and Google Fiber lets you stream many of its channels to authorized tablets on wifi. This tablet would play some of those streamable channels just fine, but there were others (The ESPNs, etc.) that this tablet wouldn't stream even though they were streamable, and even though my other Android devices (and an iPhone) would stream those same channels just fine. I also found several spelling errors in the Operating System menus and though that doesn't make it "not work" it does convey a lack of attention to detail. I'm not a perfect speller either, but then neither am I asking you to pay me for it. :-)
I really wanted to like this tablet -- the price was right, it was feather light, and the display was impressive -- but I tried it for a week and was increasingly underwhelmed by "the little things" under the hood so I eventually took it back within my window.

...and Insignia's update server is non-functional ("check failed--no connection"). So, Netflix may never function properly--we simply don't know, as of now. Other than that, it's a good device for the price--great screen, good speed, average battery life. Recommended if Netflix isn't a priority.

Pro Power for Pennies

So, I had been looking for a tablet for quite some time that didn't break the bank but gave decent performance. After passing this tablet by many times I decided to take a gander...Boy, was I surprised.
First, lets take a look at the core of this bad boy. It states that its running the newer Rockchip 3288. It is, indeed a quad core processor and is running the beastly Mali-760 which basically lets you play any demanding game even at 2048 x 1536 resolution.
So, you have a beautiful 2048 x 1536 display coupled with Mali-760 and an A17 arm processor that the Rockchip is sporting..it is serious power...so the battery definitely suffers, but I rather trade some battery for more power, honestly.

Great Tablet

I bought this for a friend who uses her tablets primarily to watch streaming movies, listen to music, and play games while web surfing. It does every single one of these tasks without issue.
The Battery life was a concern based on other reviews; however, it appears to have been addressed as the tablet lasts as long or longer than other tablets I own.
The build of the tablet is very nice. While it is a bit thicker than some other tablets, it is easy enough to hold and the aluminum build feels like a quality job.
The main draw is the screen; and it is indeed fantastic. My kids all received new tablets for the holidays and they constantly asked to borrow this tablet since the screen is so nice.
The brightness on the tablet is adjustable; but no matter what it is still bright. This is a great during the day watching movies or playing games; not so nice at night when you want to sleep and it lights up the bedroom like the sun.
For the price this is one of the nicest tablets you can buy. It is a pain I had to order the case online as Best Buy stores apparently do not stock them.

This is a great tablet for the price. The screen has great color and is very bright. It is light in the hand easy to hold. It has a/b/g/n and AC WiFi . It beats the pants off the new Asus Zenpad s8.0 which don't have dual band WiFi. I'm very happy with it.

Just got this little gem Thursday as a open box, excellent condition, cheap. Very impressed with the very high resolution screen, very smooth and super bright and crisp.
Also runs very fast and so far no problems playing You Tube videos or anything.
The battery life is merely OK but my old quad core tablet didn't run any longer but is also 4 years old now.
I haven't tried everything so far but it seems to be a top notch product at a great price.

This item is amazing! It brings me higher expectation every tine I used it. Actually, It only took 4 business days to ship to me. That's not bad for free shipping. Secondary, the package was fully packed and nothing damaged even on a rainy day. I tested run them imminently and everything goes perfect. I think this product is absolutely worth the money. The speed of this tablet is also very fast and very useful. My kids and also my nephew love this product. I go google chrome, watch videos on Youtube, access files and gallery everyday. The display is clear and large enough. I highly recommended this product. You guys should buy it asap!!!

Good for the price, bugs fixed

The Netflix and battery bugs have been fixed. Netflix works fine, and the tablet holds charge better.
The screen is incredible. You won't find better for the price. The form factor is great. I prefer this over the long 14:9 tablets. It's easy to hold and very thin.
The only drawback is that the tablet is not very smooth at times, especially when loading graphics intensive web pages. My internet connection is solid (>100 Mpbs per Speedtest.net) and I've tried multiple browsers with the same result.

Disappointed Customer

Today my tablet completely died after just 3 months. Beautiful tablet, great resolution, perfect size. Battery life was weak. I had to keep it charging while I used it and sometimes it would die while charging. It was glitchy and lagged a bit. The volume would randomly turn up when I wasn't touching it. I lost data that was only stored on this tablet and I am very sad that it cannot be recovered. I wouldn't recommend this tablet to anyone.

Got mine on sale, first thing I did when I started it up was to apply the latest update from Insignia. Haven't had an issue with Netflix, Hulu, HBO NOW, Spotify.
One thing I noticed with the Update utility is that after installing the latest update V01.00.09, it finds a "new" update titled V01.00.10, but the description of this "new" update is the same as the one for V01.00.09.
Proceeded to update again and after the "new" update was installed I opened the Update utility and it told me that there was a new update available, which is the one I had just installed.
Are you planning on releasing more updates?

Not too good, poor build

I bought this even though I read about the low battery performance, but it would be plug in during GPS use when traveling. Battery life is very poor and drains out very fast even when not using it and all apps closed and nothing running. This needs to be plugged in all the time which defeats the purpose of a mobile device. Also when it was plugged in a little tension on the plug cause the back to start to come apart.

First one was bad.

I would say 5 stars. Except the first one was bad. Stopped charging all of a sudden after it went down to 3 percent. And screen went so shaky after plugging it into my computer. And even after unplugging it it did not stop.
Hopefully the one I exchanged it for tonight is better. Charging port also feels tighter so hopefully its better.
As for the tablet its good. High res screen and one of the few budget tablets that have 2 gigabytes of ram. Most have 1gb or less. And 16gb hd space is plenty. Plus its sd card expandable. At least my 64gb works. So all is good. And apps to move to sd card. Not all but hey at least IPAD has no sd at all so you are stuck with 16gb. No room for even photos and videos.

I'm a primary Apple user but I wanted a little android toy just to mess around with. After a lot of research and playing with demos, this tablet won out. The specs and performance just blow the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 away. My one complaint is the battery life, but my primary devices are iPhone and iPad so its not an issue for me.
Great tablet!! Best Buy nailed it with this!

I bought this tablet because I wanted an inexpensive tablet to have access to android. I was interested in it because it runs a vanilla version android with only a couple of OEM apps. I find the tablet to be light and comfortable in the hand. the construction feels solid. The tablet is fairly responsive and the apps look good on the screen.

I've own this tablet for over a week now works great , and very affordable I've done significant research on this tablet and it lives up to my expectation and I found no cons to mention at this time, its made by insignia and I've never had any trouble out of anything I've bought from them ,that's the reason I went with this tablet , it's the best for less ! you won't find any tablet with this Quality and speed for this price.

Incredible screen....one major and one minor flaw.
Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
I'll admit, I didn't look at the reviews before purchasing and that was my downfall. The tablet is beautiful. Incredibly vivid, high pixel count screen and incredibly thin.
First the minor flaw; the metalic back is a bit too slick and makes it difficult to handle comfortably. It's minor and really only a major problem if your hands are dry which makes it very difficult to keep it from sliding through your hands.
The major flaw is simple....the battery life. I charged it as described and the following day with only reading ebooks, occasional emails and occasional web searches, the battery was down to 40% by 2pm. That I'm afraid isn't acceptable and would have been far less than the expected 6 hours.

Netflix didn't work out of the box, I had to update from Android 5.0.1 to 5.0.2 before it worked. To do this you goto Settings - About - Update Center. It will download a file around 556 mb and requires around 45% power to proceed even though it doesn't need that much. It takes 10 minutes or so.
The screen is not huge, you'll be somewhat let down by that fact. However with Nova Launcher installed and everything setup it's a fun tablet.
Worthy of note is the casing is metal, possibly hard aluminum. The cheaper version that is $80 has plastic. Therefore the weight is much heavier, I was abit taken aback by that. It's definitely thinner though.
I installed every single game I ever bought and have 4 gb of free space left, so that is the limitation right there, storage. I do not think the apps can be moved to the micro sd card slot, not on these tablets. Maybe I'm wrong though.
Over-all a 32 gb version at around $200 would be the best choice, but since none exists right now this will do. It's absolutely the best deal you'll find in a tablet though for sure.
