I was not convinced but bought it to try. It did not. This would probably work for a device outputting an HDMI signal that is converted into VGA for a monitor.

I didn't want to buy another one so I went to Best Buy with the monitor cord. They helped me find this connector right away. I was back hooking up my computer within 30 minutes. Great service!
