It is powered by a separate power brick and when I used it on my Mac Powerbook it knocked out the monitor. Must have surged too much power. Good thing, when I left it off overnight, the laptop started working again. I, in fact, am writing this review using same laptop. Can I recommend it? I will say no, but if you know what your doing it could work for you.
