It's easy and simple to use, you just need to get other extra items to make sure it works properly. Other than that, it was useful and was what I needed. I wanted to be able to connect my laptop to an extra monitor so that I could extend the display. Picked this adapter up at our local Best Buy (they had it in stock!), took it home, connected it up (laptop HDMI port to monitor VGA cable), and it works just fine right out of the box.

I have used this to connect my laptop to several conference room HD TVs and projectors, and it has worked perfectly on all of them. I dual boot Linux (Fedora 21) and Windows 8, and it works fine with both.

Purchased for my parents laptop to monitor connection. Works as it should. No problems or complaints.

I'm sure it works if you get it as intended, however was misguided at the store. They said this would allow me to connect my PC (VGA source) to an HDTV, but that is NOT THE CASE. Per the website, this device is ONE DIRECTION ONLY, if you are trying to connect an HDMI source (PC w/ HDMI output) to a VGA display device (like a projector). Make sure you understand what you're trying to accomplish, because this device may or may not do it for you.

Using to connect a Lenovo Thinkpad T470, which only has HDMI out, to a standard desktop monitor. Very simple and lightweight to use. There is a micro-USB port on it, which is labeled "Power". I'm not really sure what on earth it does, but it's not used. No other cables or power is required.

I bought this to try using an older flat panel VGA monitor with a Raspberry PI. Seemed like it shouldn't be too hard. No instructions came with it, and no indication of what VGA display modes are supported. The monitor just said it couldn't support whatever signal this adapter was supplying. There was the surprise of noticing that there was a USB power input and no power adapter was included. Seems some HDMI devices can power it, but some can't. I finally got it to work when I connected this to my Roku box WITH a power adapter and to a TV with a VGA input. Strangely, the same TV could not display anything except "unsupported video mode" when I plugged it into my UVerse box, even with the power adapter. Might help if the box gave some indication of what VGA display modes it does support, and how they change since apparently it changes depending on the HDMI signal.

I initially just purchased this because it was significantly less expensive than the next available name brand version. I walked away pleasantly surprised. It performed perfectly and I saved some money.

Build quality seems to be fine... the product does what it's supposed to do. Converts an HDMI output to a VGA. There is an "optional" USB power cable that might be needed on lower powered HDMI - I didn't need it, and am not sure when it might be needed?

This cord is necessary for most newer computers, which don't have VGA ports. This allowed me to hook up my older side monitor to my new laptop.

I have a nearly 10-year-old projector that has no HDMI connections and was bought at a time when every laptop had a VGA port. The projector still works great, but does not hook up to most new laptops. This adapter solves that problem completely. No connectivity issues.
