The Insignia tags are a very handy thing to have around and they work great. My initial thought to this four pack was “do I need four of them?”. Well, now that I have them I think I could use a few more. They are incredibly small and so lightweight that you pretty much forget they are there. Time will tell as to how durable they are, but as it stands I don’t anticipate any problems with durability. The fact that the battery is easily replaceable is nice as well. So how do they work? Well, first of all you need to know they only work with Apple phones or iPads. Instead of using GPS, they use a behind the scenes Bluetooth network that essentially bounces their signal from devices to device to locate them. Don’t worry, it’s not like your personal information is being tracked. It’s just using the Bluetooth ability of millions of Apple devices as a shared network. This is how most brands of trackers work. And it works well. Whenever a device is within range of the tag the network takes note of its location. When you look for the tag on your FindMy app it will simply show where it was last positioned. As for what you can attach them to the list is endless. I have them attached to keys, the dog’s collar and my camera bag with expensive gear in it. You could put them in your kids school bags or on their bikes and so on. Put them on whatever is imported. The use possibilities are endless and they work great. And as long as you have an iPhone I can’t think of a reason not to have a few around.

Lose it, find it... Pack it, track it

So Apple Tags (the actual apple product) are great... but they are pricey. But so great to have for so many reasons... Now there is a lower cost option, and just as good. Add these to your Keys, Wallet, Luggage, CPAP bag, backpack, sports gear bag, what ever.. With a simple key chain loop, you can add this to anything. SUPER simple to setup. Pull the battery tab, bring it near your iPhone, go to Find My and add-another device.. And then follow the steps, add it under a minute. Name it, and then you are done. Attach it to what you don't want to lose, and it is right there in your Apple product (iPhone, iPad, Mac). It is great to simply pull it up on my Mac and see all the things I am tracking. I added one to my CPAP bag for when I travel, just as little bit of precaution, as it is the size of a bathroom tote, and I have left that behind before. Get all the standard "left behind" notices on your phone, as well as being able to bring up the map and see where everything is. I hope the battery life on these are longer then the actual Apple brand tags, we will see. They say a 1 year... would BE AWESOME if it makes it that long. But at the lower cost, great to have

The Insignia Tag 4 -pack is a great value and excellent bluetooth 5.1 based tracker compatible with the Apple Find My app. The locator tags are small and lightweight, easily tossed in a bag or luggage. The Insignia Locator Tags can also be attached to keys with the built in eyelet and included rings. The tags also use common CR2032 coin batteries, which can easily be replaced thanks to the removable cover. Locating an item is fast, provided they are within 65 ft indoors or 164 ft outdoors of an iOS device. Once you are in the area of a tag, you can activate the 65db "buzzer" which plays an audible tone to assist in locating the item. This works great provided the tag isn't buried deep within a bag, but for keys or smaller items that may be misplaced the alert is essential to locate. With Find My integration you can also share an item location and even set up auto alerts to let you know when you leave an item behind once you are outside of a defined geofenced area. Overall the Insignia tags provide great value and a more affordable entry point for iOS users looking to track items with Find My.

I was up and running with these locator tags within seconds of opening the box. A quick pull of the battery tab, opened Find My, clicked “add” and boom done. The important thing to remember is that these rely on Bluetooth to connect. This means you have to be within range for your phone to detect it. If you throw your keys out the window on the highway and then get home, the tag isn’t going to tell you it’s ten miles down the road. This is for finding your keys at the bottom of a bag or in the couch at your house, though now I’m getting ideas about a scavenger hunt. I actually wish I had these for a battery pack that I just lost this past weekend, but I digress. It’s a bit too clunky for something like a remote control, but a backpack, suitcase, purse, camera bag etc are all great options. Unless you want to get really creative about what you’re hiding it in. The range is pretty good, but struggled to get the box labeled 164 feet outdoors. Maybe it was just my phone. It works well enough to find it anywhere in your house though which I'm guessing will be the use case for the majority of people looking to buy this product.

I received a set of these Insignia Locator Tags for review just before a coast-to-coast flight. Setting up the tags was easy and they all responded to "Find My" iPhone app. I put one tag in each of two suitcases and one in each of two carryon bags. The following morning, I checked the location of the bags at the airport and one tag said it was still at home. Oops. It stopped working at 3 AM, just a few hours after I had set it up. I was able to track the other tags on their journey through the airport and onto the airplane. Similarly, when I arrived in Atlanta, I was able to track the tags (intermittently) on their journey to baggage claim. Well done, Insignia! I have to give three of the four of these tags high marks for functionality and ease of use. They work just as well as the more expensive tags from the other company and you can buy several sets of the Insignia tags for the cost of one set of the more expensive ones. I would, however, strongly recommend that you test them for a couple of days before you travel to avoid infant mortality issues.

The Insignia Tag is perfect for everyday use, especially for those of us who are constantly misplacing our keys, wallets, and remotes. They are also great for luggage or backpacks. They are super easy to pair with the FindMy app in iPhone, and I am talking about removing the tab, push add and boom, it is added onto the app. I named mine and inscribed the name onto the tag. I liked them so much I purchased another set of four because let’s face it I have kids and pets, and when you have kids, things seem to always disappear and I don’t know who or what seems to always be the ones responsible for the items disappearing. They come with small key rings, but I would suggest purchasing a stronger keyring as these ones will inevitbly break as soon as they snag on something (I’ve had it happen with my car keys on my pockets). These are very similar to other tag items where they do operate off Bluetooth, so if you’re looking for a satelite tracking device, this is not the one for you. However, the distance on these is fairly significant, and the sound is pretty audible. I was able to hear it with earbuds in and the door being closed in another room.

The insignia locator tags are economical and work as expected. The price on these is very affordable and they seem to be sturdy and durable construction. The package included 4 tags, 4 key rings and the battery required for the tags. The tags use 1 2032 battery. To set up the tags, you install the battery and then go to “find my” on your phone. Press the button on the tag and wait for your phone to find it. Very straight forward and only takes minutes. The tag has a hole in it for a key ring, which makes it very handy to attach to your item. You don’t need to spend extra on a holder, which was a big plus to me. Once they are set up you can use find my on your phone for it to ring a tone. The tone is loud enough that they can be heard and long as it is not very noisy. When you are in another location, the tag will show in the my items tab of find my. Very simple to use and helpful when looking for a backpack, keys or even your car. lol! Would definitely recommend to anyone that needs help keeping up with your stuff.
