This is the best media remote I've found for the XBOX One, hands down. While not as slick-looking as the official Microsoft media remote, it gets the job done much better, and it also has a keyboard on the back, which is almost constantly useful if you use streaming services to search for content. Unlike the Microsoft remote, the LEDs stay lit for a long time-- the backlight on the MS remote goes off so quickly that I often get lost in the dark and have to hit some random button to turn it back on, which leads to all sorts of problems. The backlight on this remote is so sensitive that it comes on just by touching it, or often even when you get near it. This is a good thing, and it stays on long enough for you to complete anything you wish to do. It knows exactly when it is flipped over to keep one side from working when it isn't supposed to, and there is more than enough light to see everything. I guess my only beef with this remote is the fact that I often like to hold it upside down with my arms over my head, which disables the front side because I have it turned upside down. Really only specific to me though. Otherwise, I absolutely love this thing. You won't find anything better for XBOX One, and it's significantly cheaper than the Microsoft version, which is a bit too small and has plenty of issues.

I was looking for a remote for my console so I could easily navigate and control Netflix without having to continually turn a controller on after it timed out (draining the batteries in the process)... this was exactly what I needed. On top of the full keyboard on the back for searches on Netflix and YouTube, it became a no brainer. Backlit keys for easy viewing in the dark... I turned another friend onto this and he picked one up as well. Great purchase!

This remote is a must have if your are using your X1 for any media playing features! It has an accelerometer to detect when using the remote to activate the back-lit keys and to which side you are using. One side is IR and another is using the included USB dongle for communications.

I read.the.reviews before I purchased this on.clearance for 14 dollars. I was really concerned about the bad reviews. i went ahead and took the risk. i am pleased to say it does not look cheap in my opinion at.all. It actually looks really cool with the shiny buttons lit up by a really nice emerald green. the battery compartment is a little awkward but it seems to work fine. the problems with the remote geting stuck on the keyboard side seems to be when the battery gets low. electronics dont work right when the are not getting required voltage. when mine kept repeatally getting stuck on the keyboard side i kept taking the battery out and replacing it with the same one like some reviewers said. then it would do it again. so i put in some freshly charged batteries and then it started working normally again. like when it was brand new. so if the remote starts acting wierd its probably in need of some fresh batteries. i recommend if you are going to get this remote get some rechargable aaa batteries.get 4 rechargeable aaa and always keep one pair charged and a freshly charged pair in your remote. my 700mah energizers lasted me about two weeks of regular to heavy use before i had to swap them for a charged pair. which takes like 30 seconds max to take the old ones out put them in the charger and put he new ones in. the remote functions on xbox menu screen youtube netflix edge browser and tv oneguide and every keyboard entry ive tried including typing in password for signing in. i actually wrote this review on the keyboard side of the controller. the keyboard has a green backlight too. and if you flip it over it switches the light and fuction to the other side. oh yeah the remotes range is great too I can adjust the volume of my sony reciver via remote and kinect and change channels from 20 feet away easy. all you have to do is point it in the general direction of your xbox one. it doesnt have to be exact. overall its a great value i use it whenever im not playing a game. did i say it looks cool too

Great remote for such a great price. I sort of wish the middle button wasn't raised higher than all of the others and that it was Bluetooth instead of with a usb dongle, but nonetheless great item for $15

I'm not sure if there are different versions of this remote. I tested it as soon as I took it out of the package. Pressed the home/power button and my Xbox turned right on, no programming. Anyways, I take a look at the instructions which state to put in the usb dongle into the side of the Xbox. Mine did not come with one. How well it works in the long run, time will tell.

Worked flawlessly for a month, then the media control buttons on the front (play/pause, stop, etc...) stopped working. Re-pairing didn't work. Neither did power cycling the console. I even went back to Best Buy and returned it for another one, which had the exact same issue straight out of the box. Insignia's website doesn't even list this remote on their product page, so support is nonexistent. I discovered I can use the smartglass app for a keyboard input, which is really the only reason I chose this remote over the other available options. Stay away from this one, folks. Taint worth it. Takin' it back, gettin' a Microsoft xbone remote.

It works as described. Only negatives are 1. USB dongle is required for keyboard 2. motion sensitive (will drain battery) 3. sometimes you have to press the button multiple times for a response

Just a heads up since it is not clearly stated on the box or here on the site but this remote does NOT use the wireless dongle for basic functions. That means you have to have line of sight to your console to use it. I'm sure that's fine for some but it means with my room layout I have to hold the remote way up to get over my coffee table or a full arm's length to the side which is annoying enough that I'm returning it and just putting up with waking up the controller every time. Sure, I made some assumptions but the only place I've seen ANYONE say that the dongle is for the keyboard only was in another review.

Seems to work well, although I couldn't get it to work for my purposes. I was hoping for some connectivity to a PC to control my Kodi installation.

Works great food my needs. I hated using the controller or the smart glass app on my phone to type. Works great for searching you tube and pandora.

It's much nicer to navigate the Xbox One with this controller. The only complaints I have is that some of the buttons require you to press down harder, but other than that, it's great!

Great media remote for watching movies, tv, or music and great full keyboard for typing in emails and passwords versus using controller.

I got this bundled with the seagate hard drive. Nice extra remote to use when not using game controller.

Purchased this remote because it has a keyboard and is way better than having to use the arrows to select the letters you want to input. Got it home and installed the batteries and lit right up, looked nice. Turned it over and the keyboard lit up, very cool. Went to turn it back to the front and the keyboard remained lit. I tipped it back and forth thinking maybe a gyro needed help... nope. After 5 days isn't resolved. The remote itself isn't frozen, just the side that is lit up only works. Also the light will not go out unless you remove the batteries when this happens. New batteries, tried holding the red button to reset, nothing worked. I'm waiting for Insignia to respond on how to fix this issue. If I don't hear anything I may return it to BestBuy for an exchange.
