It doesn’t have a light on the connector to indicate charging status, it also doesn’t seem to charge the battery as well and the battery itself doesn’t hold a charge for very long. Might be a one-off problem but either way I won’t buy this again. Used The smile face shipping co (you know the one) to get the Microsoft one

The battery pack never fully charges, and as of writing this, has started to over heat when charging, the cable doesnt always registeras being connected. Would NOT recommend this one, spend the extra cash and buy the Microsoft version.

Charged it for several hours and went to use it and the controller wouldn't turn on. so, I checked to make sure it was installed properly and was secure and I left it overnight to charge and it never fully charged. if I don't use it while it's plugged in, it dies in under 10 minutes. completely not worth the frustration.
