I bought this same model previously and it lasted me over two years of daily use. It probably would have lasted even longer but I accidentally got water in the fan unit when I was cleaning it. It produces plenty of ice for me.

Dont even start if youre not ready for a world of pain… get the protection plan PLEASE. We are literally on our 4th one, ive been to Best Buy so many times to replace it, its getting on my nerves. But when it works, it is great… keep in mind that it is NOT repairable (Insignia lied and said it is), the first time it broke, i came to Best Buy and they “replaced” it only to give me back the same exact device (the associate pretended to go in the back and replace it) - see what i mean?

Our ice maker in our refrigerator just stopped working and it's has been hard to keep ice in our house. Well no more do we worry with this dream machine. It's a little loud if you like a quiet home but at least you don't have to keep it running all the time.

I love crushed, nugget ice and was very skeptical about buying this one. My niece has one and I tasted the ice and although it is bullet ice vs. nugget, it is so chewable. I absolutely love it. I put it at my desk so while I am working, I keep my cup filled.

Mold grows and poor design is difficult to clean

Makes great ice but poor design makes it difficult to clean. We've owned it for a couple of years and it needs to be cleaned at least once a month. The pictures show what you'll see if you look closely at your unit every so often. It doesn't come apart at all so you'll need to get crafty when cleaning it.

It can make big or small bullet ice, it makes 9 per round. They fall into a little basket and collect there until you empty it...which is recommend doing often because the machine does not keep them cold, they will melt back into the water unless you move to your freezer. This machine definitely gets the job done!
