Excellent for my college student! She has to have ice in her yeti ALWAYS & they wont let her leave with ice at the school (even though we paid for it), so we decided this would be a good gift for Christmas & she lo es it. It makes ice quickly & quietly and also easy to use.

Ice maker went out on the fridge so I bought this because it was less expensive than fixing the fridge! Works great, makes a whole lot of ice in a very little time. Surprising how quickly this makes ice. Just the right size ice too! Works great, quiet, east to store when not in use. No complaints. I would recommend.

There is always ice. The ice does melt somewhat if not used right away. It is to be expected if it’s just sitting there. The ice isn’t so frozen that it can’t be broken up and used after it melts a little and becomes fused together. Of course, if you’re using the ice right away, it is perfectly formed and easily usable. It makes ice quickly, so there is always ice when you need it.

We had been wanting one of these for a while and I found it on Deal of the Day at a good discount. So I bought it. It produces ice pretty fast but we never used it long enough for the plastic taste to go completely away because a high end Insignia model went on sale on Deal of the Day that makes clear ice and we bought it and returned this one. Performance wise it runs pretty quiet and seems to be well made. Do be aware that with any type of ice machine like this that you must keep it clean or mold can grow inside of it over time. Especially if left off with water standing in it. This also applies to commercial ice machines as well. I know because I used to do commercial refrigeration and worked on them frequently. Icemakers in domestic refrigerators that are in the freezer section are exceptions to this rule. I think these are pretty good bang for the buck and do recommend from what time we had one. And yes, we do like the one that makes clear ice better. I'll be reviewing it next week.

I looked online for videos of people using the exact unit, and they didn't know how to use it properly. I was making ice within 10 minutes right out of the box. This ice maker is eay to use and makes some nice ice lol! I bought it for the wife but made her anout 10lbs to start with, took around 12hrs but it was pretty neat using it for rhe first time.

I liked this item, for the money I thought it was a good buy. On the positive side it made nicely formed ice cubes (in what I would call a bullet shape), quickly and quietly (not silent but only a small non-disruptive amount of noise). On the negative side: for continuous use it is necessary (or at least suggested) that the tank needs to be drained and cleaned occasionally to avoid algae or contaminants. The problem is that to do this the unit must be lifted and held over the sink (or some area appropriate for water drainage) to access the drain plug on the underside of the unit, then wash and flush with clean water, and then blindly replace the plug into the drain hole (by turning unit on its side you could see the hole better, but then you would need to wait for the refrigerant to settle back into base). Also the plug was made so a retaining tether is inserted into a hole on the bottom of the plug (and this tether is used as a grab to pull the plug out of the drain hole), once the tether pulled out of the plug (leaving the plug in the drain hole) and I had to find an item to push the plug out (the push rod had to be small enough to fit through the drain hole and blunt enough to not puncture the plug as I pushed it out).

Product works great. Plugged it in and had ice in 20 minutes or so.

Handy, Clean, Quiet. Sterling Ice cubes in two sizes in about 5-7 minutes, Use bottled and distilled water for best results. Maybe add a small sqeeze of lemon. No tap water. Works well.

I love this machine compact easy to use and not loud at all. The 2 different size cubes is aplus. Cleaning is simple and pain free. Ice in 6 minutes. The only negative is the ice can be a little wet when you put it in a freezer and it freezes as one clump. But not a deal breaker. Just get a knife/ice pick and it breaks apart very easy.

Less expensive than repairing the ice maker in my fridge. Makes ice quickly and is easy to use. doesn't take much room on the counter.

I love this little ice maker! Perfect size for my counter and two different sizes of ice makes it just right for my family! After the first batch, it cranked up the ice production! I usually turn it on about 30 minutes before dinner and by the time we sit down, the ice bin is almost full! Just make sure you are using purified drinking water to fill it or your water line could get clogged. A great product, that I do recommend!

Really like it. Super easy to use and clean and makes cute cone shaped ice. I just wish when it said out of water that it would actually clear out all the water so that I could leave it to air dry.

I love how ct this ice maker is. Essentially it is ready to go as soon as you pull it out of the box and un package the tape.  it is very quiet. It is very quick. There are two sizes to pick from all in all it has a very nice machine 10 out of 10 stars.

This icemaker is better than anticipated. It's quiet, consistent and takes care of business. The ice looks and tastes like quality, filtered ice. We keep ourselves stocked with fresh ice by making some every couple of days. Set up was easy and operation is beyond simple.

Works awesome and fast, loving it, you put water and in seconds its producing ICE.

Works well when new. Makes ice fast. The problem is that none of these last very long. The one i had prior to this one actually lasted 14 months. Expect about a year and make sure you purchase the geek squad protection.

I picked up the Insignia Portable Ice Maker mostly for convenience, and while it does technically make ice as advertised, the experience has been pretty middle-of-the-road. It produces small batches of ice reliably enough, and the auto shut-off feature is useful so it doesn’t overflow the bin. For casual use (like making a few drinks throughout the day) it gets the job done. But over time, several drawbacks have kept it from feeling like a truly convenient or worthwhile appliance. The biggest issue is the slow output paired with the very small batch size. If you only need a handful of cubes here and there, it’s fine; but if you’re trying to keep up with multiple drinks or guests, you end up waiting around for the machine to cycle through more ice and it takes a while. The reservoir also runs out of water fairly quickly, which means you’ll be refilling it more often than you’d expect. If you forget to top it off, the machine simply stops running until you notice, which is the opposite of “hands-off” convenience. Another drawback is the noise. When the machine is actively making ice, there’s a noticeable humming and mechanical sound that can be distracting, especially in a smaller kitchen or open living area. It’s not unbearable, but definitely not something you’d want running overnight or during a quiet movie night. The ice itself is also on the smaller, softer side and sometimes comes out partially melted or inconsistent in shape. It works fine for basic drinks but doesn’t have the firmness or size you’d get from a standard freezer ice maker. Maintenance is another factor. Like most portable ice makers, this one requires regular cleaning to avoid odd tastes or mineral buildup. That’s fine in theory, but paired with the other limitations, it makes the overall experience feel more high-maintenance than it should be. It would be a lot better if it had a built-filter. Overall, the Insignia Portable Ice Maker isn’t awful; it works, and it does produce ice. But the slow production, frequent refilling, noise, and somewhat inconsistent ice quality make it feel more like an occasional-use gadget rather than a reliable everyday solution. If your needs are light and you don’t mind babysitting it a bit, it may be fine. For anything more than that, it’s just okay.
