I tried fixing it, but couldn't get the motor to fit back into its slot, so it was time for a new one! I like this one better than my previous one. The resevoir is deeper, therefore the basket is bigger and holds much more ice. Because there seems to be more headspace, it's much easier to clean out any mold that might form, any build up, etc. *Remembering to clean well and often is the key to a long lifetime for these ice makers!*

It really does make ice in minutes. Make sure you read the instructions. I recommend this icemaker.

Makes ice in under 5 mins for each batch would buy again.

Only that it is about an inch too tall and does not fit on my counter under the cabinet above it. We run it, put the ice in a bag in our freezer and keep it turned off otherwise. We bought a water purifier so we do not need to continue buying distilled water to use in it.
