This one is quieter and runs a lot less than some of the prior machines did, so hopefully that's a good sign.

I had the stainless version that only lasted 2 years. I purchased the extended protection for this one. The performance is fine but I'm not sure about longevity. Catching it on sale is when you get the best value.

Manufacturers fine print tell you to use Distilled water only, otherwise the metal that forms the ice builds up minerals that break you unit over time. Went through alot of these lasting 1-2 years max. Now runs fine with new unit and distilled water

In about 30 minutes you have a full basket of ice. The large ice cubes are not really that big, but when it comes to ice, ice is ice. The ice is wet when it comes out of the maker, so it will probably stick together when you put it in the frig.
