As a family who loves ice in all of their beverages, this ice maker is perfect. Ice is made quickly so that we're never without it. This is our second one in several years. The first one was still producing ice but I just wanted a newer looking one, It's one of those small appliances that's worth taking space on my counter.

Excellent ice maker! Quick, quiet and easy to clean. Makes 2 sizes of great ice. Leave the lid open after using and it dries completely inside.

This is so easy to use and so convenient. Its not noisy. It doesn't need a lot of water to make ice. It just depends on how much ice you use in a day. It makes ice quickly.

Excellent machine! Has worked flawlessly for us for about a year, now. Once the water in the reservoir and the ice-making “fingers” are cold enough, it makes decent sized small cubes. Starting with mildly cold water, the first cubes will be tiny, even on the large setting. But after the first few batches, you’re good! As another reviewer suggested, kickstart your ice making by putting ice into the reservoir (or the first batch or two you make). Would absolutely recommend and purchase again. Much better unit than the brand-name one we initially bought.

I read reviews from other people but decided to try for myself. Those reviews were less than complimentary. No problem! I love this product! It makes my ice fast and easy! Little noise - just enough so I know it’s working! Hands down an awesome purchase and cheers!!!

We love it so far! I brought it for my hubby for Fathers Day because he loves chewing ice, but it has been awesome for the whole family since our ice machine has not been working. It is very easy to operate and makes large or smaller chunks of ice. Just make sure to dump the ice cubes in your freezer when it is full because the machine does not keep the cubes frozen.

Works very well, quieter than our last one. The scoop should be made not as wide. Wind up dropping ice with every scoop . Saved our old thinner one.

Makes great crunching ice at a good rate but ice begins melting almost immediately in the ice maker. I transfer the ice to a gallon sized freezer bag as soon as the tray is full. Then I put it directly into my freezer.

I bought this after my refrigerator died and borrowed someone's mini fridge while waiting to find any full sized refrigerator to be in stock. Obviously I'm being a little facetious, but I wasn't going to go for a small refrigerator that landlords and apartment complexes buy to cheap out on tenants. Anyways, while waiting to get a refrigerator for my home, I was supplementing a mini fridge with a cooler to keep items that should be kept cold but don't need a consist low temperature (eg fruit, condemints, etc.). Given I knew I would need to use the cooler for at least a month, I opted to buy this rather than buy ice from a store. 30 days was the brake even point to justify buying an ice maker. I'm glad I bought this. I've used it much longer. As far as how well this runs, it can fill the bucket in about an hour, putting out nine bullet shaped ice cubes at a time. I never timed how often, but I think it's about every five minutes. The machine does not keep the ice frozen, but as the ice melts, it drips back into the reservoir so shouldn't pose a problem if you are just taking the ice directly from the machine. I was taking the bucket out to dump it into a cooler, so I was aware of the fact of how much water drips from the bucket if you wait for it to completely fill before taking it out. The machine can make two different sizes, but I've only done the larger size. I don't know if it remembers what size you've last had it made, it was the size that it went to when I first turned it on and given I was primarily just dumping the ice into a cooler, I just left it on that setting. The machine does get loud when it drops the ice, then again when it moves the ice into the bucket, but other than that I don't have any real complaints about this ice maker.

After a few months of use, even after cleaning, when the ice machine is low on water it screams as it’s attempting to suction water when it’s out. The screams immediately anger me but besides that it’s a good machine. My husband just laughs when he hears it.

my ice maker went out and I purchased this one, It is easy to use and fast in producing ice cubes. It is also safe for my children to use. Ice cubes are large and small. I realy like this item. I would reccommend it to everyone

I run this thing about 10 hours a day and it continually makes great ice. Not a single problem and fits conveniently on the counter. it requires drinking water so we have a brita filter that we use to make the ice, so its pretty much free. Great for summers in florida

this is better than i expected. the icemaker easy to use and able to make different size selection in making ice. compact but does a great job

The Insignia portable icemaker is absolutely marvelous. It's quiet, runs efficiently, and as soon as the ice is done,I shut it off and I don't have to use it for at least 2 days. It makes a lot of ice. I love it and I think three others in my family are going to buy one.

it lasted 10months before it stopped making ice but for the most part it was a good machine
