Couldn't get it to work

When I made my Geek Squad appointment I specifically asked to have my DVR connected to the TV. When the geek squad agent came, he took the converter out of the box and tried to connect it to the DVR. He could not connect it and then said you don’t need it take it back to the store. The DVR will play a pre-recorded DVD but will not record on a blank DVD like it used to. When I asked the agent why it would not record he said I don’t know we just set up TVs although I specifically ask for a DVR set up.
