Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.This device is a great way to hook up an older DVD/VHS player that has RCA connectors (e.g. red/yellow/white pins) to a new TV that does not have these connections. We purchased a new Sony TV and could not connect the older DVD player to it. I called Sony, explained the set-up and they said they were not able to help. I called Best Buy and explained the set-up and the Customer Service person gave me the answer in 2 seconds! Be sure to purchase the HDMI-to-HDMI cable so you can connect this Insignia device to the TV. The unit does not come with the HDMI-to-HDMI cable. We only needed a 1.5 ft HDMI cable because the Insignia device comes with a cord that plugs into an outlet and the DVD player already had a long enough cable to plug into the Insignia device. You just have to get from the device to the TV. Super easy to set-up.

This has an electrical outlet plug so it doesn't have to be continually running. My older DVD works perfectly with this converter. The description does tell you it doesn't come with the HDMI cable which allowed me to purchase that item at the same time I bought the converter. Little pricey but all the other converters do not have electrical plugs.

Connected our old Wii console (RCA output) to the new TV (HDMI input) without any issues at all. I have not experienced any of the problems reported elsewhere with this item. Truly a plug-and-play experience.
