Never open the TV cabinets again(unless you want)

This product is really simple to use. You plug the USB into your selected devices inside your TV console, run the cord out through the back and place the device on top or wherever you’d like that you feel you would least notice, and then you run the power cord to your power supply. I keep my power surge protector inside the large vented cabinet in the center to allow for air circulation. Then, you simply point and click. It is a wonderfully inexpensive alternative to a remote that can point through walls, but it is rather limited in the angle from which you can click and still see results. I have mine sitting on my sound bar in front of my 65” OLED TV. Can you find it in the photograph?

This product works great except for the little stickies. Those darn things fall off almost immediately and it's funny because they provide you with extra ones. Extra stickies that do absolutely nothing except make things a little frustrating. I was trying to test everything and I kept wondering why it worked one minute and not the next. I had to use scotch tape to keep it attached. No big deal since everything is hidden. Looks sloppy with the cabinet open. The main sensor sits on top of my cabinet and it is hardly noticable. I'm glad I bought it and thank goodness for tape.

I tried so many remotes and extenders to stretch the bad remote that came with my stereo the 10 feet between my amp and my desk. The first sales person I talked with at Best Buy didn't have a clue and told me they made no remote that would do the job..But I had a feeling he didn't know what he was talking about. He was in the TV department. Then, I tried another guy who knew exactly what I needed and this was it! A big hint though: the instructions tell you to use one of the cords to link to your amp. NO NO. That didn't work...but I used three and it works perfectly. And I didn't attach the cords to the amp, as suggested, but instead pointed all three at the volume control and its infra red eye...Works great. The photos..not particularly beautiful, show the set up...receiver on speaker, connected to wires at the amp. Not pretty..but I can access the stereo from across the room. The remote it came with sux.

The Xfinity X1 box has the IR sensor recessed in a small crease along the bottom of the box. This really limits the reception of an IR signal. The two pictures show the tiny receiver sitting on top of our system's cabinet and the repeater by the tiny sensor on the X1 box. This just simply works. Now we can use the remote anywhere in the room. Directionality is good. 100% pleased.

Does What It Should - With A Little Help

I was initially unimpressed with this product just based off the reviews regarding the actual extender IR wand NOT sticking to the devices with the included foam stickers. However, based on shopping around, this was a consistent issue with most products of this nature in that the adhesives are for the most part, useless. More on that at the end. As for the product itself, it does what it should. I have the main IR located just under the lip of my wall mounted tv and the extended wands in their respective places on my cable box and Xbox One. The range does just fine with a Harmony 700 remote in all areas of the living room and does not have to be "straight on". There is no lag or delay and it's a great thing for the Xbox One where I had the most trouble. I had to be in the "sweet zone" with my remote whenever I watched a movie, You Tube, etc. Since this purchase and installation, it's quick, responsive and no lag. Problem solved. As for the installation of the extended wands. I had used strong double sided tape on the wand and device (after a good alcohol wipe cleaning) and within 2 days, it separated. Frustrated, I turned to ole Google audio visual forums and found a very inexpensive and solid mounting solution. Glue gun. I initially thought you had to be freaking crazy to glue gun this thing to a device, but I had one laying around and thought before I try duck tape, jk, I would try this method (which is apparently quite common in the world of audio/visual installation). I removed all the tape and foam from the wand, put a dab on the wand and quickly put in place on the device. I was worried that it might ruin the finish or screen and found out quickly on a misplacement, that removal was quick and easy, but once properly put in place, solid and sturdy. It don't not damage device, but won't adhere as well if you wait to long and glue hardens. It's a boom boom, dab and stick in place thing and totally worth it. You can get a glue gun almost anywhere for less than $5 and even if I didn't have one, I would have bought one just for the installation attempt. I did not give this 5 stars, because you shouldn't have to purchase a product and then "fix it". However, the fix is minimal, much more efficient and the product works great (with some elbow grease/glue).

Purchased this extender set to hide my video components and keep the theater as streamlined as possible, and from a functionality standpoint, they work just as expected with very little lag from the time the button is pressed to the response of the IR device. Two things that are preventing me from giving it five stars. 1) The adhesive used on the foam and transmitter seems cheap and doesn't hold well. I was using the remote and the commands weren't working. Upon further investigation the transmitter was no longer in front of the component, just the foam piece was there. This was the case with all of the transmitters I stuck to the front of a device. It was a quick fix with some super glue, but an issue never-the-less. 2) The USB power supply wasn't long enough to run from where I placed the receiver to an outlet, based on my setup. It too was an easy enough fix by simply buying a USB extension cable, but just be aware of where you intend to supply power (outlet or other USB power source) and where you intend the receiver to be placed.

I have all my TV components (Receiver, Blueray, VHS, etc.) in an enclosed wooden shelving unit under the cabinet top on which the TV is located. Needed something to get the infrared signal from the remote control through the wooden cabinet doors to the components. I had read about remote extenders so I went to Best Buy to get one. The Insignia Remote Extender does the job. It is very easy to install. You plug it in and just place the signal sensor on top of the cabinet by the TV and you place the four signal sending cords inside the cabinet by your components infrared signal sensors. Your remote can then control all your components without having to leave the cabinet doors open. It is helpful and more aesthetic if you have a hole drilled in the cabinet top to feed all your wiring through from the top of the cabinet to the inside of the cabinet. I definitely recommend this item if your situation is similar to mine.

When I was shopping in Best Buy, the salesperson told me about this product, whereby I could hide my Cable and WiFi boxes. It works !! Actually TotalTech did all the installation work perfectly. Everything is hidden and the little eye can be anywhere my remotes can see it, like in the corner of a cabinet top or under a center speaker. Great product, and thank you to Best Buy for the guidance.

So, I purchased this because my soundbar blocks the sensor on my tv. It was super easy to install and I've rigged it to where you can't event see the device at all. You'd never know it was there! It also works like a charm. If you have the same problem or certainly need to have multiple devices in closed cabinets, I wouldn't hesitate to save a buck and pick up one of these.

Bought this on a whim and it works great. Yes the double sided tape is useless but that’s an easy fix. Very responsive seamless performance. Gave it 4 stars because it could be longer to accommodate more distant located devices... perhaps if use another extended to serve as receiver in series.

The first Insignia Remote Extender stopped working after 9 months so we bought a new one because Best Buy would not allow us to return it for exchange. Instead we had to contact Insignia, who would either give us a 50% return it they would send us a new item. We opted for the new item and returned the second one we purchased. When the RE works it works fine but there is no repairing it if it stops working. Just hoping the second one last longer than the first

The range on this is great and it is easy to install. The divisions in the cord weren't in the most useful area for my application but it works well. The adhesive for applying the emitters wasn't strong enough and i had to use my own double stick tape.

I did not have very high hopes for this during my original purchase. However all of of my TV components are on a cabinet and this little guy hooked up quickly, and virtually no setup. I am super impressed with the way it works , and it has been flawless. This is an amazing product and if your components are in a cabinet this will make your life incredibly easy

    Remote Extender Kit--Not Great..Just OK

This item works well but is not without its limitations. The wire that runs to the main IR sensor is far too short. In my case, the distance from my theater room components to the place where the IR sensor needs to be mounted is about 20 feet. This cable is far too short for my purposes. Also, the IR sensors for each of the theater room components are held in place by double-sided tape which often falls off of the components. This can be remedied by using a stronger piece of tape to fix it in place more securely. It isn't a bad device, but in my opinion, these flaws make it less than perfect.

My parents TV’s IR receiver was blocked by this sound bar so they had to stand right on top of the TV to control in. This thing was about to sit infront of the bar, and then the transmitter stuck to the TV right next to the receiver. Works flawlessly, and made everyone's lives a lot easier. Definitely recommend it if you have a similar issue with your setup.
