Buy only items made BY Microsoft or Xbox. The batteries do charge -- the charging light switches from amber to green to indicate completion -- but the locking mechanism does NOT work, which is probably why the batteries were only 3/4 full when I inserted them in the controller.

I was very disappointed, because I liked the concept behind the aparatus....oh well.

Sometimes the controller disconnects from the console or when I’m talking to my friends the audio sounds bad. But I like it enough to keep it I just unplug it when I play

Its not as flush as the picture shows it to be, its a little uneven with the system when plugged into the USB port.

Although they are nice to have they dont seem to stay in the charging slots they always pop out or shoot out.

My battery packs have not been charging at all. I had to wrap it in rubber bands to keep them in place. I love the idea, but the battery packs do not stay in anymore.

Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had these side dock battery chargers on the Xbox One so I wanted the updated versions for the Xbox Series S and X. The X version worked fine, but the S has a manufacturing issue. Like others have said, the batteries do not stay locked in the charger. The little clip doesn't engage so the battery just pops back out. I called Insignia and they said to exchange it at Best Buy. Unfortunately, the other 3 units available at my local Best Buy have the exact same issue, and I'm not driving all over the state testing each one until I find a good one. And it's the charger itself. I was able to put the S batteries in the X charger, but the X batteries would not stay in the S charger. So, I just returned the S version until Insignia recalls all these bad units and send out properly manufactured ones. Bottom line: I do NOT recommend, at this time.
