Good Induction cooktop!

Have used for fast cook omelets and slow cook soups as well as boling water. Unit cooks fast as expected but takes a little longer to cool down to a simmer. Unit is a little noisy. Good value for the dollar.

Owned for 1 week when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I heard about induction cooking years ago and bought this unit because it does not need a 220-volt outlet, as full-size cooktops do. But using it is not as easy as it sounded, and I apparently need a course in using induction before deciding whether I should have bought this unit. If anything, the unit heats compatible cookware too quickly. Because cast iron does not spread the heat easily, the small heating element causes oil to smoke and food to burn in the middle of a cast iron skillet. (Cooking shows preheat cast iron in an oven before frying but doing that would defeat the efficiency of the cooktop.) It has two methods for controlling heat, temperature and amps, but I have yet to figure out how to control cooking temperature with either. I am hoping that my problems are the result of not knowing how to use this technology rather than a defect in the item itself.
