This video adapter was a very quick and painless install. The price was high, but then you get what you pay for and in this case I believe I bought a winner.

I bought the converter at the suggestion of a customer service rep on the Best Buy floor. Glad I asked. I thought that I would just need an HDMI cable to run the laptop screen to the Smart TV for Dish service but the CSR told me that I would need the converter for the audio. There was no setup but I had to go into the computer to enable the "second display" to work. So I am using the converter to watch Dish Anywhere on the TV using the laptop to capture it. Works great, but of course there is no remote for the computer. Can't have everything.

The is necessary to conect earlier apple computers to new monitors. The drawback is that the drivers for the cable must be downloaded for it to work.
