Won't Control Insignia Digital Tuner
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.This unit was recommended by a Best Buy CS Tech to replace the original remote for my INSIGNIA Digital Tuner Box, plus 2 other items - ostensibly my Memorex TV & Toshiba DVD/VHS Recorder/Player. While I could get it programmed to control the TV & the Recorder on the respective TV & DVD buttons/functions - although not for all of those units' functions, & several were controlled at different remote buttons than what they actually did control (e.g.: volume at channel, etc.), but I never tried the "Learning" process to change the functions. However, it would NOT program for the Insignia Digital Receiver at the Cable/SAT button/function, as the BB Tech said it would - even when I tried all 3 programming alternatives, it only added another control of the DVD at the cable/SAT button! Yes, I tried all of the Motorola codes that the BB Tech told me to use (apparently the Insignia Digital Receiver box is actually made by Motorola), as well as scan codes, & there is no Motorola nor ANY digital receiver box for method A. Go figure that an INSIGNIA not-so-universal remote will NOT control an INSIGNIA Digital Receiver Box! :-( So this was a total waste of my money, since the primary purpose was to control my Insignia digital receiver! Don't waste your time nor money if you need it for that purpose, or if you want a universal remote to actually control everything on your TV or DVD at the appropriate buttons.
