Works great with my chromebook and my mothers laptop. No driver installation was necessary, just plug it in and it connected immediately.

Simple, it does what it is supposed to do, provide Ethernet connectivity via USB

I had a specific need to accomplish but this did not create a solution for me. I was looking to get a wired ethernet connection to my iPhone for use in a hotel where Wifi signal can be spotty at best. I tested at home and found this device did not work for my purposes. It may be functional for other intended purposes. I connected it via a Lightning to Camera USB connection into my iphone then into a powered hub (I tried w/o a powered hub first then figured it needed power but that did not work either) then into this USB to ethernet adapter then into my router. My iPhone never prompted an ethernet wired connection for me to select so therefore this will not work to solve my problem. I also tested my Mac keyboard thru the USB to Camera adapter that did work on my iPhone so I deduced it was this unit that did not work for my purposes.

Great Ethernet adapter to connect parents' computer to the wireless router!!!

I purchased this adapter to use with my tablet. The adapter does not have any link lights, which I didn't realize when I purchased it. It worked well enough for the few times I was able to use it. After about twenty uses, it stopped working and started to produce a high-pitch squeal. This happened during a firmware upgrade on a firewall, which I was not very happy about. In a pinch, this adapter is functional, but I wouldn't use it for any mission critical tasks.

It contains the driver on a CD. Laptops (like mine) that would need this adapter would not typically have a CD drive. I could find no downloadable driver on their website. I tried to install the CD from my desktop machine and it gave an error. Options include windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8; no windows 10 It is badly outdated. Terrible all around.

My MAC did not recognize the device. I looked for drivers and all the documentations, even the ones online state to install the drivers from the included CD. MACs like most computers hasn't included a CD drive for years. I called the support line and they state that this product doesn't work with OS Sierra came out September 2017 or Mojave or Catalina. So if you are running a really old operating system on your MAC, then this is not the product for you and if you purchase it, you will end up returning it to the store. The outdate documentation, the lack of drivers for current operating systems tells me that support for this product is dead. Even Windows users would be using this product with really old unpatched drivers that might not be safe to use.

Purchased to use with my Surface 3 Pro. It installed automatically and works great.

If you have Macbook pro and don't have a cd drive, do not purchase this product. They don't have a software you can download online in order to use it. You would think it would be a no brainer to have one but they don't. I called support.

Worked good but started causing problems with my IP configurations on my wireless pcs. Had to go into command prompt to reset the IP. Kept doing it so I unplugged the adapter reset my IP configurations again and it no longer has the problem. It may work for some but keep the box just in case you have to bring it back.

Sometimes connections would get losted in the sauce

I bought this adapter to use on a Macbook Pro 13 that I thought was acting up. Installation was quick and easy, and the look of the adapter matched the other white Macbook Pro peripherals. At around $20, this was the perfect fix, and I was glad Best Buy had one in stock. Thanks again, Best Buy, for bailing a guy out.

My husband bought this item and Avira reported the installation CD had a file with a Trojan (computer virus). We thought it was a false positive, but sent the file to Avira's lab to make sure there was nothing wrong with it. Surprise! Avira confirmed it was indeed malware. This malicious software, which usually should be a Portable Executable (like the CD it comes with#, is mostly being used in order to connect a #worldwide# group of victimized PCs and form a Botnet #also known as Zombie network#. The software is able to spread through networks in order to infect other computers as Computer worms do. The difference is that such Backdoors do not spread automatically #as Worms do), but are started through a Command and Control-Center who is supervising them.

As a teacher adjusting to Distance Learning, I bought this in hopes of better internet connection for my Mac. I followed the instructions for Mac installation and I could never get it to work.

First, to use this product, you're required to use the CD that comes with it to install the software - my MacBook does not have a CD drive. Locating the proper software online was not easy, and was unsure I had found the correct one. After locating a portable CD drive and installing the correct software, the Ethernet adapter was not recognized by my computer. I called Insignia's customer service and the rep went to find additional support, I was on hold for 20 minutes before being disconnected. The rep had specifically asked for my call back number ... but never called back.

Unit is $25 for USB 2.0/10M when you can easily get USB 3.0/1G for the same price. Tried to install drivers on a 3 year old high end Sony Ultrabook running W7 Pro 64bit and installation repeated failed due to folder name and/or file path too long. Verified this was true and it was ridiculous how long one of the folder names was. Bought j5 create - USB 3.0-to-Gigabit Ethernet Adapter for the same price instead and it installed right away off of Windows Updates without any problems.

I bought this adapter to play smash ultimate with a wired connection. I connected this to my switch and the wired connection symbol wouldn’t pop up. I referred to my manual and you have to install drivers for it to work. (Which aren’t a thing in the switch) kinda disappointed but it kinda of my fault too since the packaging says for select Mac and windows. Still mad though.

CAUTION buyer beware--- According to product help service (Insignia), this product will not work with a Windows 7 computer-- only Windows 8 and above there are drivers for Windows 7 on a supplied CD, but the product DOES NOT work with supplied Windows 7 drivers how to waste a whole day of your time !!!!!
