It disabled all access to the outside world via WiFi and Ethernet. I was unable to remove the program. I ended up hauling my 27" I-Mac to the local Best Buy and the Geek Squad Guy fixed me up. He was a life saver. I purchased the Apple thunderbolt to ethernet dongle and everything worked like a champ.
